The other grip of wild rocknrollers on Friday includes some of the best to get on stage and remind an audience that they don't need to be buying tickets to a chart topping band to see something wild that reminds them that life is bigger than working the admission window at the neighborhood porno theater. And actually, your best bet for something that's gonna keep you up at night running the events back through your head over and over is to see the best in local-level talent at BREK FEST CHICAGO SHOWCASE. Pure Intention close things up on Friday, and they're sure to personally attack every father-daughter combo in attendance. Snake Wine will rip wild primitive rocknroll like only groundwater pollution from a factory can manifest. And Deady will run a sonic onslaught like five horses, living up to the Derby City moniker of their hometown. See you there. Tickets via Liars Club store, adding them to my linktree right after I hit Post.

Three out of six of Friday night's bands at Brek Fest are no strangers to a Nirvana comparison, sometimes snidely. And you know what? Nirvana kicks ass. These bands kick ass. Headwar will be playing their second to last show, and their final Chicago show, this Friday at Liars. Although they're from Wisconsin, these guys have been no stranger to our scene and they always throw down. Bow and Spear are OG's from the first Brek back in 2018 and I was so pleased to see them run Bottle almost to capacity for their release show a few weeks ago. Love that crew. And the man, the myth, the legend Bobby Hussy and his band Whippets are late in the lineup Friday before our hometown headliner. These guys are the kings of Wisconsin and they know a few things about showbiz, which is why they keep popping up on all the best gigs. It's our privilege to peel them outta their lair and drag them to our thing, so let's get an eyeful and an earful, yeah? That's just a quarter of what you'll be getting this weekend at Liars Club so come check it out!

Been losing my mind enough without social media, can't imagine how much worse I'd be if I was on it rn, but there's a banger coming around the corner here. The lineup is genuinely some of the best rocknroll in Chicago and the Rust Belt so get with it.
1. End of summer blowout, don't miss it, booze gonna flow and the lineup is stupid good. More to say with some spotlight posts
2. My kids are making me insane but we got to hit up a carnival.
3 & 4. Figured I'd spice up this post with a couple live shots by Dre of some sick bands in the lineup @wesleyandtheboys and @watermelonpunk
5. I will have some normal door prizes at the fest (records, shirts) but I was looking at my scrap pile and I think I have enough random cedar to make and give away a picnic table. Stay tuned to see if I can stick that landing.
6. Me on stage 🤷‍♂️ @nightfreakchicago is playing, whatdya want from me

Truly sick music and good times ahead. See six hours of it up close and personal for barely more than the cost of a movie ticket.
