Meet Izzy Briggs, the newest member of our massage team at The Somatic Therapies Centre in Hove. Before training as a massage therapist, Izzy spent years learning how bodies move, through acting, contemporary dance and yoga. She has just completed her Level 6 Advanced Clinical Massage, and she brings all of that into the treatment room.

Here’s what a session with Izzy feels like:
🤍 It starts with a conversation about how you’re feeling, what brought you in, and the everyday things your body has been dealing with, from long days at a desk to stress.
🤍 It’s shaped around you, so the pressure and pace are yours to choose.
🤍 You leave with space to rest and unwind, not just a to-do list for your muscles.

Dyslexia used to be a label that told me I can’t read or right. Anyone else?

Turns out I do have a voice I just needed time patience and to be gentle with my artistic heart.

I’m not sure what my righting style is - poetryish journal entry style - my style - heart on my sleeve - passionate - intimate - moments where finally it felt right to bring words to moment that was felt so deep.

Last month after receiving the most beautiful poem by a dear friend @doe.eyed.vixen I realised what a priceless gift of feeling seen through words can be.

And so I made a promise to my self to write more, share more and write love letters to my friends.

It still takes courage but I’m trusting my words more as they circulate love and release held tears.

Yep my hearts on my sleeve, more love letters please ❤️ ✉️

Ready to unleash myself in witching season… many new things are brewing. 🖤

Despite it all,
the seasons have still changed.

Despite it all,
I’m still falling in love,
watching my friends kiss and cry,
and kiss and cry.

Despite the bite of autumn coming in,
and the weight in my body
from running circles around summer,
and my hair that seemingly grows
an inch each night

Despite it all,
new people walk through my life.

They turn my burnt cheek
towards the window for a fresh breeze.
They breathe with me.
They tell me off when I stop.

Despite it all,
I’ve moved house yet again.

My granny warned me
about the restlessness of the women in our bloodline,
constantly wrestling
with a disobedient shadow.

I get to watch the leaves turn
from my window now.

Perhaps even open it
and let them blow in
and onto my bed.

Or maybe we’ll swap.

The leaves can take my bed,
and I’ll go to the soil.

Despite it all,
the seasons have still changed.

Autumn workshop incoming! The seasons live in our bodies, this workshop is about moving with the slowing, settling energy of Autumn, the energy of coming back into yourself. We’ll consider what you want to nurture as the days get shorter and what you want to shed as the leaves start to fall.

The evening will start with @healing_izzy guiding gentle movement and bodywork to create opening and space, before @ruth__barley guides a journey with Conscious Connected Breath. Breathwork lets us clear and release energy, to find clarity and make space for what we want to call in and cultivate. In the powerful liminal space after the breathwork journey, there will be hands on reiki, assists and gentle massage to ground.

The will be time afterwards for sharing (totally optional), pulling cards, snacks and chats.

this week was so wild!! 🌿🦁

While we were at @medicinefestival, three cosmic events unfolded overhead, each one seeming to echo the next. Somewhere between the magic, the music, the laughter, the tears, and the dancing, I shed an old skin and carry a completely new version of myself!!

Finally to my sisters and family, thank you for witnessing me so completely. I’ve never felt so seen. My heart is overflowing. ♥️🤠
