The making of “Baksoman”. Here we are making our way through a lava outflow on the bottom of mount Batur in Bali, Indonesia. Bayu is doing great job navigating us through the bumpy road full of big rocks and cracks. We are trying to find our drone pilot Bill from legendary @ozdrone_ai who has taken high ground somewhere around here. We can’t see the drone in the sky, so we are listening for the screeching sound of his high speed racer slicing through the air. The challenge for Bill is to spot me in this huge vulcanic crater, while flying at high speeds. The battery on his custom drone only lasts for about 12 min, before he has to find a landing spot. We only have two batteries with us and our odds of finding a power outlet on this god forsaken rock are slim. (Sorry, I got carried away there for a moment…😄). Honestly, the environment is stunning. We already burnt one battery, so we decided to find Bill before we take off for the second flight. Before we can find him, we bump into a Balinese teenager who wonders around the lava fields selling paintings made from ground lava stone. I can’t remember the boys name, but he gave me a good deal, so I bought the “Omkara”. It represents the sound of “Om” or “AUM” which you might know if you’ve joined a yoga class at one point in your life. It is said to be the primordial sound from which the universe was created. I definitely, need one of those.
After sharing his art with me, he also blessed us by playing a song on my guitar. What a beautiful memory.
Suddenly, we heard screeching noises. Bill couldn’t be far. We jumped back into the car and long and behold, guess who was behind the next rock. I couldn’t help, but laugh at Bill standing on top of a lava hill, looking down on us like a Balinese God. #BaksomanViral #dronevideo #Jellyfish #MusicVideo

When I wrote ‘Ubud Vibes’ I thought it would be funny to put zucchini fries in it, because it seemed like something ‘Ubudian’ but I had never seen it on any menu. Who would have known that only 1 month later I’d be stuffing my face with them. You always get what you ask for….especially in Ubud…

‘Rap about love, bro’! This was at yesterday’s Rap and Flow Session @laluzubud. The reason why I love freestyling so much is because it’s like the therapy. When you allow yourself to speak the truth you create a deeper connection with yourself. The next most powerful thing is to share your truth with others without worrying what they might think of you. We all have a unique story to share and this is were your true value comes from. Nobody can tell it like yourself. But only you know it, so only you can tell it. So, If you want to learn how to freestyle and speak your inner truth, send a DM and book a private session with me.

WRITERS CORNER

The first peek inside our beautiful monthly meet up for writers.

So what is it? Am intimate space, with no more than 10 people at a time. It’s an opportunity for writers of all levels, styles, backgrounds to come together to give & receive feedback on their work.

We found it common that writers felt like it is a ‘lonely’ art, so we put together spaces where there is a support system to say what feedback you are looking for. But it’s not only that. The conversations that stem from discussing ones work, open up a plethora of topics and points of view.

Writers Corner is completely run by the community, for the community.
