Kei Kamara’s journey is an incredible one — from coming to the U.S. as a refugee from Sierra Leone to becoming one of the greatest goal scorers in MLS history.

Now, through his Heart Shaped Hands Foundation, he’s giving back to the country where he was born and working to create opportunities for the next generation.

After a 20-year professional career, @2k3 has a simple message for young players: dream big, work hard, enjoy the journey, and be a sponge along the way.

Before the @mls All-Star Game, Kei Kamara was recognized for something far greater than his incredible career on the field.

From refugee to one of the greatest goal scorers in MLS history, Kei’s journey is remarkable. What impressed me most, though, was hearing about his commitment to creating opportunities for others through the HeartShapedHands Foundation (@heartshapedhands_) and his work to give back.

Just days after officially breaking ground on @heartshapedhands_ Academy, my brother @toniruediger called and wanted to see the project first hand but most importantly he wanted to show love to my community and let’s just say this was one visit Baoma Village will never forget.

I got the chance to meet pro soccer player Kei Kamara @2k3 from LAFC after training today. His @heartshapedhands_ foundation teamed up with Legends FC to give back to those in need. I was able to donate some pairs of cleats to send to families in Sierra Leone and I hope it helps support their passion for soccer. 💝
