What would you say when your friends ask you "what is ASMR"?

ASMR has a very special place in my heart (or should I say in my brain?) as it has been my sensory wonderworld since early childhood. In the early 2000’s, when people who found out that experiencing a tingly sensation in their head in the presence of ‘some situations’ is what they have in common, they started a Reddit feed and called this sensation Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR). Although the pseudoscientific name is nowadays used for all sorts of relaxing sound videos on YouTube, the suspected ratio of people who actually experience ASMR is 0.1% of the population.

The tingly sensations are mostly experienced when there is a relaxing situation like a check-up examination, a classroom lecture or in response to someone paying close personal attention to you. Although the tingles usually arise in such situations, everyone has their own personal audio/visual/tactile triggers such as:

🔸Tapping
🔸Physical touch
🔸Page turning
🔸Light
🔸Crinkling/Squishing
🔸Writing
🔸Brushing ...

There will certainly be more ASMR posts to come but till then, you can enjoy some popular triggers from ASMRtists (artists that create ASMR content) and Bob Ross the father of ASMR :)

Chewy is thinking of starting her own #ASMR podcast. 👂🗣 Who here would subscribe? • Adoptable soon! She’s a sweet senior currently in foster care. • Thanks @bark for the crunchalicious #barkpops treats! And yes, this sound is unedited. • #fosterdogs #fosterdog #pekingese #crunch #dogtreats #boroughbred

HEADPHONES ON! For those of you who want me to shut up, here’s me obnoxiously whispering in your ears instead. Lol come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure impersonations. Definitely not a perfect video. Still working some technical things out, but it’s a start. Watch it all fall apart as soon as it begins! Link in bio!
