“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His loving kindness is everlasting.”

As many of you have seen, the Oz Lodge Crew is spending our winter out on Raspberry Island. For the next two weeks, we are recipients of the hospitality of the Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge team. This crew does not disappoint; day in and day out, we have been served with the utmost of kindness.

Kindness. It can be the smallest gesture, but when it’s directed at you, it has the potential to impact your life forever.

We are thankful for friends, family, food and opportunities galore, but most of all, we are thankful that God’s kindness is directed at each of us. The ticket? To be a watchful and grateful recipient of His kindness.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Great time on the ice a few days ago with great people. How cool is it that we have so much outdoor recreation opportunities in our backyard.

My goodness, if you haven’t been to Seward during Independence Day you are missing out. Seward knows how to celebrate America’s birthday! So much fun getting to be part of this town and an homer to be in our town’s 4th of July Parade. 🇺🇸🎆🎇

📍Reporting Live from Seward, Alaska
Name’s Jedediah — trail name: “Lil’ Moose.” 🍼🧊

Today’s expedition started bright and early. I was up before the sun, which is saying a lot in July. First task: wrestle Wubba the Bear into submission. He put up a fight, but I hit him with the ol’ binky-in-the-mouth sneak move. Victory is mine. 🐻💥

After that, I surveyed the homestead from my mobile command post (Mom’s arms). Made sure the trees were still standing, the bay was still cold, and the moose hadn’t broken into the sauna again. All clear. 💼🌲

I stopped by the lodge to supervise coffee operations. Didn’t taste any — trying to cut back — but gave it a good sniff and a strong approving nod. Then I helped Dad haul firewood. By “help,” I mean I shouted encouragement while holding a snack in one hand and a pacifier in the other. Leadership matters. 🪵🍼

Caught some wind in my hair riding through town, spotted a bald eagle, and growled at it just to let it know who’s boss. (It ignored me. But I think I earned its respect.) 🦅

Currently recharging for Round 2 of exploration. Plans include power crawling through the grass, shouting at a rock, and possibly a nap that turns into a four-hour wilderness vision quest.

Hair’s wild, spirit’s wilder.
You can take the baby out of the woods, but you can’t take the woods out of the baby. ✊

Kick off your shoes and stay a little while! Jed’s been working hard and helping get the saunas ready for our next batch of guests every time. It’s a family owned operation here and everyone pulls their weight.
