POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Words cannot begin to describe the impact that being a part of SOS has had on me. Neither can they describe the appreciation and love that I have for this staff. I never thought that I would be able to fill this role, let alone dance on a stage at 8am.
Thank you to everyone that pushed me to apply for SOS, I would not be the same person I am today without taking that step. Thank you to @ulstudentorientation for giving me this chance and placing your trust in me as an orientation leader. I hope that every student was able to have the best orientation experience possible.
To my fam, I really could not ask for anyone better. We really are the biggest. Without yall, my experience would not be the same and I can only hope that I impacted yall just as much as yall have impacted me.
To everyone else on staff, thank you for being there for me, laughing with me, and letting me be a part of yalls lives. It really means the world and I am so grateful that I was not only able to strengthen the bonds I already had but make completely new ones too!
Finally, to V, just thank you for doing this with me. It’s just so crazy to me that we’ve legit only known each other for a year but you are one of the most important people to me and I am so thankful that Akasha introduced us and that I get to have you in my life. And I know that’s so sappy but it’s the truth.
I will forever be thankful for this experience. OL #858 and @zt_.media ‘s biggest hater signing out! 🤟

To an organization that has given me so much,

Two years ago, when I first joined Student Orientation Staff I had no clue what this organization would eventually become to me. I knew I wanted to be involved, meet people, and help new students feel welcomed at our university just like my orientation leaders did me, but what I didn’t know was that I was about to find a place that would become one of my homes. My first year on staff was where it all started. Everything was new, I was surrounded by new people, new experiences, and so many moments that I didn’t realize would become some of my favorite college memories. That year gave me friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging that made me want to come back for another year. However this second year was different. I chose to come back as a parent orientation leader and I knew that meant stepping into an entirely different role. Instead of experiencing SOS in the same way I had before, I got to see another side of it. I was working with parents and families, answering their questions, helping ease their worries, and hopefully making them feel a little more comfortable about their student attending this school. And while I loved getting to do that, what made this year so special to me were the five people I got to do it alongside. Even though there was only six of us, somehow that little group became such a huge part of my life. We spent so much time together that the smallest things became memories—the conversations in the lactation room when nobody else was around, the jokes christen never ran out of, the endless stories Anna told, the words of affirmation Semora always had, the way Taylor always knew what to say to make us all relax or smile, the comfortability Christian gave us just by being there. And of course our director Morgan for making every day the best it could be and for believing in us and trusting us to embrace this role. To everyone I’ve met through SOS over these past two years, thank you for giving me a place where I could be completely myself. I love each of yall so much and couldn’t ask for a better way to spend these last two summers.
