March 2025 brought a blanket of snow to Sedona this year 😍❄️

Incredible photography by @heber444

Snowfall in Sedona, Arizona is a somewhat rare occurrence. Typically happening in the colder months, snow settles atop the towering red sandstone formations, creating a striking contrast between the deep crimson cliffs and the soft white powder.

Although snowfall is usually light and melts quickly under the Arizona sun, occasional heavy storms can blanket the town, turning Sedona into a frosty escape - otherwise known as “Snowdona”.

These winter moments feel magical, offering photographers, hikers, and visitors a truly unique experience.

It’s one of the many beautiful wonders of Arizona🫶

Rare comet sighting in Sedona, AZ early October 2024☄️

Incredible photos by: @heber444

The comet is expected to peak on Oct 12th about 45 min after sunset, low on the western horizon. It will be able to view from the naked eye throughout the month of October however, binoculars or telescopes are ideal for best viewing.

A comet like this has not appeared in tens of thousands of years, and the next one isn’t expected to swing by earth for another 80,000 years according to NASA!

C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) is a long-period comet discovered in early 2023 by two independent observatories: the Tsuchinshan Observatory in China and the ATLAS survey in Hawaii. It is notable for its expected bright appearance in 2024, when it will make its closest approach to Earth and the Sun.

Prior to peak brightness, the comet made a close approach to Earth in late September/early October (when these photos were captured), which provided an opportunity for spectacular views from both hemispheres.

C/2023 A3 has garnered interest because of its potential to develop a long, bright tail typical of comets that pass close to the Sun. However, its brightness is still subject to uncertainties due to the unpredictable behavior of comets as they interact with solar radiation.
