HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂 Hedy Fischer. October 11

When I first met Hedy she drove a red Karmon Ghia, inside on the dashboard was a bumper sticker that said Ride or Die! What a great road it’s been and the ride is getting better ever year! Thanks for the miles - -and kilometers

In a private ceremony Hedy Fischer and Randy Shull are now husband and wife. Randy Siegel performed a seamless and inspiring ceremony of union in his historic 1950’s Mid century modern home with two witnesses looking on. After 33 years the girlfriend chapter has come to an end. It’s true and was a super fun day! Thank you Hedy first and foremost for taking this giant leap!! We have so much to build upon and I look forward to an inspiring next chapter!

We recently had a fabulous in-person gathering with some of our Board members! We headed out to Lake Eden for a walking tour of the historic Black Mountain College campus – we've sure been spending a lot of time out there recently between the annual {Re}HAPPENING, BMC Active Archive Residency, and our on-site archival analysis adventure with the Rauschenberg Foundation Catalogue Raisonné team! Jeff and Alice, our Executive Director and Director of Preservation respectively, tailored the walking tour to the specific BMC interests of our Board members, who all bring their own interests and expertise to the team.

It's always great when our board members, who dedicate so much time to our organization, can go to the source and learn more about the rich history they help preserve and continue. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and to those who were unable to join! We are deeply appreciative of the amazing folks who make up our Board of Directors.

Creating is also a form of caring.

@hedyfischer, philanthropist and cultural promoter, fosters creation through knowledge and support. She shares her expertise and opens spaces, strengthening community, which is the superpower of the feminine.

Her vision stems from something profoundly feminine: the ability to build community, to accompany processes, and to transform through collaboration.

Because when one person creates, many more are strengthened.

🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
Earlier this month, @anahop suggested we do a series of portraits of women. Together, we chose dear friends: powerful, creative women with a deep sense of community.
We also photographed each other. Because the act of looking at one another and letting ourselves be seen moves us, too.

Here’s the series, bit by bit.
