14 years ago today, Felix Baumgartner jumped from the edge of space.

I haven’t posted about Felix since his passing. I got the phone call on a random Thursday, and it still doesn’t feel real. But then again, Felix never really seemed real. He was always larger than life.

The thing about Red Bull Stratos is that we were there for ALLLL the small things. The world saw the highlight reel. We saw the sleepless nights (weeks), the dirt in every crevice of our clothing, the work, the waiting, the anticipation.

It was historic. It was huge. But to me, it was human. It was personal.

Felix was my friend. The first time we traveled together, I picked him up in my black Mustang (the first clip in this video). He informed me that my chipped nail polish would make people take me less seriously. I immediately snapped back that my nails had absolutely nothing to do with my value. And that pretty much set the tone for our relationship.

Real. Ridiculous. Sometimes argumentative. But meaningful. I’d be lying if I said Felix didn’t drive me nuts. If you knew him, you get it. If you knew how many hours I spent with him, you’d REALLY get it.

Right after Felix landed from space, I was standing at the helicopter. As I went to hug him, a reporter asked, “Felix, what were you thinking about while falling from space?” He pointed at me and said, “This little cutie right here.”
Naturally, I hit him.

Only Felix could take one of the biggest moments in history and make me mad.

We stayed in touch all these years. His last words to me were, “What a journey. Time is flying. Love you and respect to you and everyone who dares to dream BIG.” The world will remember Felix for doing the impossible. I’ll remember my friend. The guy who made me laugh, drove me crazy, and was part of one of the most incredible chapters of my life.
14 years later, my nails still aren’t done.
And I know Felix would have something to say about that.

I‘m on fire… 🔥 und das schon ziemlich lange. Aber so sehr wie jetzt hab ich es noch nie gespürt, dass es mich noch mehr in die Kulinarik-Schiene drängt. Ich liebe es, schönes Essen festzuhalten und ins beste Licht zu rücken. Bei so schönen Speisen fällt das auch nicht schwer 😁
Und natürlich haben wir bei dem Dreh auch immer einen Teller von jedem Gang abbekommen - herrlich war’s!!

This is the story behind ONE face in the A 1000 Pelotons trailer. It’s the face of @lomme_vdm. He’s a 18 year old Belgium rider. The first time we went to Belgium to film with @anna.meeusen1 and @meeusen_tim and their family, we filmed at the Youth Tour de Flanders 2024 @cyclingvlaanderen. We filmed full-on, as we mostly do. Amongst them was the one shot you see in the title. We didn’t know who the kid was and what his story was exactly, but the face told a lot. Turned out, we had no idea how much.
