It brings me so much joy to offer this one-day retreat in the country that has given me space to reconnect with something deeper and more essential in myself. It’s hard to name what it is about Uruguay that allows for this spiritual, creative emergence. It unfolds in natural, mysterious, and auspicious ways. Whatever it is, I’m grateful for the aliveness I feel and excited to give it back.

Most of us know how to meet our obligations and take care of others. Knowing what we want can be harder, especially when we’ve become accustomed to dismissing it.

We’re so porous to the demands and distractions of the world. What if we were as porous to the wonder, beauty, and intelligence of nature and our own nature?

This retreat is permission to stop and listen. What do you care most deeply about now? What have you squelched that you want to cultivate?

Our essence isn’t preoccupied with productivity, money, or approval. It wants to get its hands dirty and experience JOY. PLEASURE. Remember?

For one day on a magical sheep ranch in the Sierras, far enough away to feel removed from the noise, we’ll explore through guided visualization, deep listening, reflection, and playful creative practice. We’ll scribble, draw, and experiment to loosen expectations and make deeper contact with ourselves, following an impulse for the fun of it.

Come see what surprises you. Leave with something you’ve made, something you’ve discovered in yourself, and a commitment to give it space in your life.

No artistic experience necessary. A working knowledge of English is (I’m far from fluent yet!). Email Heidi to secure your spot.

Are there animals at La Porfia? You bet! Carlitos and @ezequielnieto47 keep sheep, cattle and a few horses on the land…friends of the farm 🐑🐄🐴. We’ve spotted nañdus (like emus), giant lizards (lagartos), mulitos (armadillos), owls. I’ve yet to see a wild boar. And of course, there’s Mimo, @heidilender pup ❤️ who just had his first skunk 🦨 encounter.

Save the date: Introducing The Wonder Series — a new ongoing program from the Porfia Project.

The first chapter, Cultivate: from essence to expression, is a collaboration with my dear friend, leadership coach @ashleywick (spending the year in Uruguay, all the way from Boulder, Colorado).

A soulful journey through a creative lens, up in the hills of Garzón — play, create, meet whatever wants to come forth.

Option to stay the night, with continued exploration through a culinary experience with @_nicoleta_ . ✨💕

I always wanted a big sister and at 42 years old I managed to find her here in Garzon. It was in @heidilender’s kitchen 5 years ago that I looked around at the light in her kitchen and realized I wanted to quit my job and move here. Heidi is one of the few people in my life who I feel safe enough around to be vulnerable and long winded about my life- aside from my family, I’ve never had many folks that fill that roll.

A couple weeks ago Heidi sat for a portrait amidst the construction of @porfiaproject which is opening in our upcoming summer as an artist residency. Her 150 year old converted sheep farm, in the rolling hills outside Garzon, will become a place for likeminded folks to live, eat, collaborate, and make art ❤️
