Feeling incredibly grateful to have been part of THE UNTOUCHABLES. 🤍

Being chosen as the Showstopper and having the opportunity to bring such an unconventional and beautiful vision to life was truly special. It challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, embrace something different and express myself in a whole new way.

I loved every moment of this journey the creativity, the excitement, the beautiful people I met and the memories we created along the way. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to our designer for trusting us with her vision and allowing us to make it our own. Your creativity, passion and belief in us made this experience so meaningful.

And Charlene Sauerman Couture /Ryan Neves thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️ You both have truly touched my heart and made this journey even more special.

I’m walking away feeling more confident, inspired and incredibly grateful. 🤍

Thank you for allowing me to be one of your Untouchables. This experience will always hold a special place in my heart.

A little photography, a little storytelling, a little theatre and lots of laughter 😂❤️

Yesterday I had the privilege of walking Patrick de Mervelec through my exhibition, the street is my stage | moments in monochrome, at the Sanlam Art Gallery.

What made it special was being able to share the stories behind some of my photographs with him. Where I was. What I saw. Why I made the photograph. How I approached the composition, light and moment. And, perhaps most importantly, what I was trying to say.

There is something quite special about sharing your work that intimately with another photographer, especially someone with Patrick’s extraordinary life and photographic experience.

And then it was time to give him a copy of my book.

Now Patrick has a history in acting, so simply handing it to him seemed far too ordinary. 😂

A little theatre was required.

Down on one knee I went for the grand presentation. Patrick immediately played along, before getting up and embracing me.

We laughed. A lot.

But beneath all the playfulness was genuine respect and a beautiful moment of connection.

Two photographers from different generations, sharing stories, photographs, laughter and a love for this incredible medium.

Photography brought us together. Human connection made the moment. ❤️

A special moment with a legend.

Today I had the privilege of giving Patrick de Mervelec a copy of my book, the street is my stage | moments in monochrome, while we were both exhibiting at the Sanlam Art Gallery as part of the Cape Town Photography Festival.

I also spent time with Patrick’s exhibition, The Foundations of Freedom.

It was deeply emotive.

What stayed with me was the reminder that so many of the giants of our liberation, despite the brutality and oppression of apartheid, continued to believe in love, dignity and our shared humanity.

There is something incredibly powerful about encountering that history through photographs. They don’t just document what happened. They bring us face to face with the people, the struggle and the humanity behind it.

Perhaps that is also why Patrick’s work resonated so deeply with me. My own photography keeps bringing me back to the same fundamental idea: our shared humanity is greater than the things that divide us.

To stand alongside Patrick today, to talk photography, to experience his work, to share my book with him and, judging by the photographs, to behave ourselves impeccably 😂, was very special.

Thank you Patrick for your generosity, your stories and the laughs.

This is what photography can do.

It remembers.
It connects.
It reminds us of who we are.

Well… I finally made it....

I missed the opening of my exhibition on Thursday evening, so walking into the Sanlam Art Gallery today and seeing my work on these walls was a very special moment.

A little surreal. A lot of gratitude.

the street is my stage | moments in monochrome is deeply personal to me. It is about the streets of Cape Town, but more importantly, it is about people. Human connection. The brief moments we share with strangers and the reminder that, despite everything that may separate us, there is so much that connects us.

I’m hugely honoured to be exhibiting alongside the great and legendary @patrick_de_mervelec and it was wonderful sharing today’s Festival Open Walk with him, his wife Cally and his son Laurence.

Thank you Zaida Dollie for everything you have done to help bring my work into this space. Thank you to Sanlam Art Gallery, Heidi Erdmann and the Cape Town Photography Festival for creating a platform for photography, conversation and connection.

Seeing my name and photographs on these walls today…

Yeah, I’m smiling!!!

Grateful. Humbled. Happy.

Photography made me dream again. Not of perfection, but connection.
