We safely arrived in Guadeloupe after a 12 day journey from Cuba. We’ve got lots of things to fix to get Infinity ready for the Amazon Expedition and now we had to add fixing 3 sails to that list. We‘ll have to glue and sew two Jibs and one Headsail to be able to leave from here towards Brazil. If you want to support us on #MissionEarth and help protect 50% of the planet by 2050 then please check out our GoFundMe for new Sails 4 Infinity (link in bio).

Less than 24h after we filmed the update about our fundraiser for new Sails 4 Infinity (link in bio) in front of the sails that were still holding up, the Jib suddenly ripped apart and there’s also a new little tear on our mainsail too. Fingers crossed it stays small until we reach the next stop on our journey towards the Amazon in Guadeloupe.

🌈 We were sailing around 4 knots (7,5 km/h) when a group of Rainbow Runners joined us for over 30 minutes yesterday. They play a significant role in marine ecosystems as both predators and prey. Rainbow Runners are fast-swimming carnivores that contribute to healthy and balanced marine ecosystems by feeding on populations of small fish, and other smaller organisms like squid, shrimps, and crabs. At the same time, they are an important food source for larger predators like dolphins and seabirds. Their role in the food web helps to transfer energy up the food chain, supporting populations of larger predators. Rainbow Runners are frequently caught in nets used to target tuna and sharks, often discarded or kept and sold as bycatch.

Seeing life in the Cuban village close to the Marina was a heartwarming experience for all of us. It’s a simple life with countless struggles for these friendly, helpful and hardworking people that live here.

We are waiting for the right weather window to leave from Cuba for the Caribbean, where we will hopefully get our new sails. If you want to support us in keeping sailing on #MissionEarth, then please check out our GoFundMe (link in bio).
