🤍SHORTLISTED FOR THE VIDEO ART AWARD 🤍

I’m incredibly happy to share that MY HOME, MY TORTURE III: Living Through LA Fires has been selected for the Top 20 shortlist from over 300 international submissions at the Chengdu International Digital Light Art Festival 2026 in China.

The next step: six artists from the shortlist will be selected to receive the Video Art Award.
Fingers crossed, fam!!!
But whatever happens next, this already means so much for me and validation of this project, which has not even premiered yet! 🙋‍♀️🤫

Through authentic footage captured in the aftermath, ritual performance, and the fragile sound of the Bohemian Cristal Instrument, the project explores calm after disaster, stillness, brutal fierce of nature, erased memory, inequality and renewal.

Nature does not read ZIP codes.
Fire makes loss look equal. Recovery does not.

Deeply grateful to see this personal and still-evolving work recognized internationally — and excited for what comes next.

Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo these mornings for everyone currently suffering from wildfires around the world. 🙏🔥

Thank my dear collaborators @mantreko @danielleherzogphoto @rsvisualthing @hell.sequens

Sometimes you wish your art would be irrelevant…
I created this music while processing the aftermath of the Los Angeles fires.

Not to explain them. Not to document.
Just to listen to the silence. To resonate with stillness.

Today, as wildfires spread across parts of the United States and Europe once again, I’m returning to this work.

MY HOME MY TORTURE III is not a project about fire.

It is about what fire and disasters reveal and expose.

It reminds us that nature does not distinguish between wealth and poverty, privilege, immigration status, .

It confronts us with the radical equality of existence (btw I think Kundera would love this phrase 🧐🙋‍♀️)

At the same time, destruction is never the whole story.

Grief, resilience and renewal coexist.

This performance, created with my Bohemian Cristal Instrument, is one fragment of an evolving multimedia project combining sound, moving image, field recordings and performance to explore memory, loss and our relationship with the natural world.

Nature doesn’t read zip codes. But it does speak brutally clear.
Perhaps it’s time we started listening.

It’s been a year.

Shortly after the fires, I walked the burned-out sites with no fences — before official language, before any attempt to explain what had happened. I didn’t record anything then. I mostly sat in silence and let the land speak. Let the stillness affect me. Let it tell me what it could, without forcing meaning.

Fire didn’t just scar Los Angeles — it revealed something fundamental.

The first fire appeared on January 7, the last was contained on Jan 31. On January 8, I was supposed to evacuate from my home in Hollywood. I didn’t, but was ready to leave in 3 mins, all instruments and gear packed in car. That night, only three of us remained in the building. We stayed awake, watching the fires approach, reading the wind, measuring distance not in miles but minutes. For the first time, the city — which had always made me feel protected — exposed how fragile that safety really is.

Coming from Europe, I was shaped by cities where history and density imply permanence and control. Los Angeles dismantled that illusion. Here, nature does not exist outside the city — it moves through it. It challenges scale, ambition, and the belief that progress can shield us. This cinematic city is exposed to it.

This fall, I returned to the burned landscapes of the Palisades and Altadena and filmed acoustic sessions, and more visual material, took pictures, directly on the land capturing the moments shaped by what remained. These recordings live in the silence after disaster — a meditative stillness where grief coexists with rare visual beauty. Absence heavy with meaning. And within it, a sense of hope.

Starting this Monday, Jan 12, for the next weeks, I’ll share a new acoustic performance every Monday, filmed on these sites. No reconstruction. No aesthetic repair. Just sound, land, and memory.

We’re finishing a full music video for “New Nature”, coming soon — reflecting on loss, regeneration, and learning to work with the land and nature rather than dominate it.

Pause. Remember what was lost. Notice what returns.

Who really governs this universe?

From devastation comes renewal.
From stillness, clarity.

My Home/ My Torture III in making.

First screenshots from the location in Pacific Palisades. Altadena next week …

So far, I don’t know what final form this new piece will take - a video art? A VR or AR experience? A multimedia interactive installation? A music video? Or probably more that one form?
It started from an angle of a social #critical #commentary and turned into a fascination by the silence and stillness after #disaster, exploration of the overloading calm that follows #catastrophe—a heaviness that lingers, the lightness of new beginnings, inviting to confront the enduring scars - individual, cultural, social, economic - visible and unseen.
