i wrapped up my australia trip right where it started… sydney 🇦🇺💚

what an incredible few weeks. sydney has a piece of my heart forever, and in a perfect world i’ll come back every year for the rest of my life.

it’s one of the only cities in the world where i could genuinely see myself living. the food scene here is unbelievable. this trip i checked off almost every sydney steakhouse on the @worldbeststeakrestaurants list, with my favorites being @margaretdoublebay and @aaliarestaurant

the weather was perfect. winter in sydney is something special, but next time i want to experience summer and get to know this city even better.

@sydneyharbourmarriott is still my favorite hotel in sydney, partly because of the gym, but mostly because of the special friendship i’ve built with one of the kindest people i know, @hellayoga

running around the opera house is one of my favorite runs anywhere in the world, and @mr.wongsydney will probably end up in every sydney video because it’s always there for me when i need it.

sydney, thank you for welcoming me every single time. thank you to all the kind people, all my friends, and all the memories. thank you for always feeling a little like home.

I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way. 👩‍✈️🌊🦋 #followyourheart 🧭

I don’t believe in labels and that humans are born to be put in boxes. 📦
I believe you can be anyone you want to be - as long as you’re being true to yourself. 💛

You can be a cowgirl today, and a captain tomorrow.🤠

You can outgrow an outdated version of yourself.
You can reconnect with a long-lost version of yourself.
You can reinvent yourself at 88.

And you can feel lost at sea holding on to an identity that used to define you,
but no longer aligns with who you’ve become today.
(RIP, Digital Nomad Nini ⚰️)

The versions of you are like waves of the ocean - they are dynamic, and change with the tides. 🌊.

The truths you live by are the calm foundation deep beneath the surface, unrocked by the change of the tides.🧘‍♀️

Through all the mermaid, cowgirl and corporate hippie versions of myself, I found
these truths to have stayed constant:

Kindness doesn’t have to be big,
Confidence doesn’t have to be loud,
Happiness doesn’t have to be expensive.
Pancakes have to be fluffy. 🥞

Since it would appear I only post annual recaps well into the next year, here we are.

The beautiful irony of having this post preceded by my 2024 recap is not lost on me. It took me well into 2025 to fully understand and appreciate the necessity of 2024. It was the crescendo of many years, converging into an involuntary purge—a confronting of who I thought I was in the context of who I am becoming. An unbecoming to become, if you will.

If 2024 was a catharsis, 2025 was an absolution. A slow, willful release. A deliverance from beliefs, expectations, and (especially) fear. A deep appreciation for my longstanding need for control, recognition of the ways it’s served me... and a conscious decision to release it.

And you know what? Life didn't get easier but it got a lot fucking better. A lifetime of self-imposed pressure to do more and be more is slowly beginning to dissipate.

I'm far from having it all figured out. There are layers to this (me) that I'll be peeling back for the rest of my life. And honestly, I'm here for it. It's ugly, scary, and downright mortifying at times but MY GOD––the freedom, peace, and joy it brings?? Yes, a thousand times yes.

The best thing about moving to the other side of the world 🌍: Officially a summer birthday girl in February 💁‍♀️🎂

Lots of good things start with B:
Bondi Beach 🏝️. Brunch. 🍳 Birthday. 🎂

So I decided to celebrate my next rotation around this big bright yellow sun with a motto party 🎉

The theme ☀️: Letter 🅱️
(literally ANYTHING that starts with B 😅)

Blended with a cultural potluck, contributing one brunch dish from everyone’s home culture. 🇲🇹🇦🇺🇳🇴 🇸🇪🇦🇷🇫🇷🇬🇧🇮🇪🇿🇦🇳🇱🇪🇸🇩🇪

And the crowd did NOT disappoint. 😎

Boxers, Bachelor, Bear, Barbie and Banana 🍌 met Aussie fairy bread, Norwegian caramel cheese, Dutch Apple pie, German potato salad and Maltese Patizzi. 🧑‍🍳 🌍

And while I was already sitting on packed bags to board my flight to Bali today and wrap up my year Down Under ✈️, Aussie immigration surprised me with a special birthday gift: Granting my extension visa ON my birthday 🎂

I guess life truly is what happens while you’re busy making other plans…and sometimes you might have to add your own little plot twist to the story 🎥 💁‍♀️.

Yet, from all the fun stuff I’ve done in the past 32 years, the BESTEST part is: The awesome humans I get to share this wild ride called life with! 🙌

Thank you ALL - near & far from Bretten to Bali - for the most heartfelt messages that made this special day feel extra special!! Birthday love just hits differently 💘

sydney, australia was a dream come true 🇦🇺

i landed right after a historic storm… a month’s worth of rain in one day. the second i touched down, the sun came out and refused to leave ☀️

i kept my daily run streak alive… sydney is unreal to explore on foot

1–2: ate at @mr.wongsydney almost every day. high-end cantonese, worth every dollar. dumplings, crab fried rice… still thinking about it every day

3–5: @sydneyharbourmarriott breakfast. i never do hotel breakfasts, even when free, but this one converted me. also met a friend for life 💚 @hellayoga 💚 randomly crossing paths on the street is wild. GRATEFUL

6–7: greg martin and his badass truck. friends since we were kids in hollywood, florida… now he lives in australia. he drove in just to grab lunch. so proud of him

8–9: half marathon to bondi beach. still heavy thinking about the recent tragedy there. life is too fragile

10: aussie slang is undefeated. coldest hardest piss on 🍺

11: it’s a clock tower. relax

12: @eatatrobs - considered sydney’s best burger. lived up to the hype. still think waiting 30 minutes for any burger is insane

13–14: sydney harbour @bridgeclimb - expensive. strict rules. 100% worth it. most locals haven’t done it… but when else was i going to see this city from above like that?

15: best fish and chips i’ve ever had. shoutout @hookedandharvest

16–17: dinner at the legendary @firedoor_surryhills - australian wagyu and my first time eating kangaroo

18: crazy rock

19: obligatory opera house photo i’ve dreamed of taking forever

20: @botanicsydney my morning run route every day 🌿
