Gotta love a field trip, especially when it takes me to Greektown Chicago AND National Hellenic Museum! Checked out the new exhibit, ‘The Odyssey Reimagined’. Through painting, photography, textiles, sculpture, and sound, 17 contemporary artists interpret Homer’s epic poem. Through these works, we revisit the past to inform our present and future. What a genius Homer was… he continues to inspire us and create dialogue thousands of years later! Don’t miss it. Runs through January 2028. | #nationalhellenic #greektownchicago #greeks #theodyssey #chicagomuseum

An ancient Greek epic, reimagined for today! 🌊

Greektown is proud to celebrate the National Hellenic Museum’s newest exhibition, The Odyssey Reimagined, bringing together 16 contemporary artists and their interpretations of Homer’s nearly 3,000 year old epic.

Through painting, sculpture, photography, textiles and sound, the exhibition explores the themes that have kept The Odyssey relevant across generations, from homecoming and belonging to love, loyalty, adversity and the choices that shape our journeys.

The exhibition is part of the museum’s larger 'A Year with the Odyssey' program, offering a new way to connect with one of Greece’s most enduring stories right here in Greektown Chicago. The exhibition is generously sponsored by the John P. Calamos Foundation and the Christ N. Dalamares Family.

Plan a visit to the National Hellenic Museum and discover The Odyssey Reimagined through a new lens.

CHICAGO — The @hellenicmuseum in Chicago hosted its annual Gala dinner on Saturday, September 26, where 600 guests came together for an evening celebrating Greek history, heritage, and community.

Each year, this Gala brings people together to support and showcase the Museum’s work. This year’s celebration in particular, highlighted the richness of Greek heritage while bringing together people of different generations and cultures and inviting them to share their experiences and perspectives and discover the connections that unite them.

In an interview with The National Herald, the Executive Director of the National Hellenic Museum, Marianne Kountoures expressed how the evening saw a wonderful turnout which left members of the Museum feeling especially grateful not simply for seeing more than 500 guests in the room, but for the “tremendous enthusiasm and generosity they showed for the Museum and its mission.”

She noted that the annual Gala is “the Museum’s largest fundraiser, supporting relevant exhibitions and programs, the preservation of oral histories, and our work to create a vibrant public square where people of all generations and cultures engage with Greek history and discover the connections that bind us together.”
