PROUD TO BE CANADIAN? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Michelle Ferreri says Canadians need to remember just how much we have to be proud of.

Having travelled across Canada and around the world, Michelle says this country truly has everything โ€” incredible geography, natural resources, diverse cultures and people from coast to coast.

But she believes Canadians simply arenโ€™t patriotic enough.

Michelle argues we can learn something from the pride Americans have in their country. Canada is more than just โ€œnot Americaโ€ โ€” every province has its own identity, culture and way of life, and we have resources the world wants and needs.

Her message is simple: we need to remember who we are, protect what makes Canada special and be proud to call ourselves Canadian.

Are Canadians patriotic enough today? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

PIERRE POILIEVRE IS LISTENING ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Michelle Ferreri gives Pierre Poilievre his credit โ€” not just as a politician, but for the way he connects with everyday Canadians.

She says she has watched Pierre stay at rallies and shake hundreds of hands โ€” but the important part isnโ€™t the handshake.

He listens.

Michelle says Canadians share their struggles and their stories with Pierre, and he takes that responsibility seriously. She contrasts that with Mark Carney, saying she has never seen him connect with Canadians in the same way.

She also believes Canadians need to hear more of Pierreโ€™s own story โ€” from being adopted and growing up with divorced parents to building the family he has today.

Her message for Pierre going forward is simple: keep listening, keep connecting and keep telling the stories of everyday Canadians.

THE EMERGENCIES ACT CHANGED EVERYTHING ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Michelle Ferreri recalls the moment the Emergencies Act changed how she viewed political power.

After the Freedom Convoy had been cleared, she assumed Justin Trudeau would revoke the Act. Her Conservative colleagues told her she was being naiฬˆve โ€” he would double down.

They were right.

For Michelle, it was a defining moment: power had become more important than doing what was best for Canadians.

TORONTO โ€” ITโ€™S TIME TO WAKE UP ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Michelle Ferreri shares a candid assessment of where Toronto is today โ€” and why she believes this upcoming mayoral election matters so much.

Michelle argues that many people simply arenโ€™t seeing the reality on the ground: the affordability crisis, addiction, public safety concerns, homelessness and young Canadians struggling to afford homes or even find work.

She says part of the problem is that some older, financially secure Canadians are doing well themselves and may not fully understand what younger generations and people living in Torontoโ€™s downtown core are experiencing.

Her message to Toronto voters is simple: you cannot complain about the direction of your city and then sit out the election.

With Brad Bradford and Olivia Chow battling for mayor, Michelle believes Toronto has an opportunity to decide what direction it wants to take โ€” and she makes clear that she hopes Bradford wins.

Voting matters. If youโ€™re unhappy with what Toronto has become, show up and use your vote to change it. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Do you believe Toronto needs a change in leadership?

In this episode, I sit down with Michelle Ferreri for a wide-ranging conversation about Toronto, Canadian politics, affordability, public safety, immigration, leadership and the future of Canada.

We dive into:

โ€ข Torontoโ€™s mayoral election, Olivia Chow, Brad Bradford and why Michelle believes voting matters now more than ever
โ€ข homelessness, addiction, public safety and what she believes Canadian cities are getting wrong
โ€ข affordability, housing and why so many younger Canadians feel like theyโ€™re falling behind
โ€ข what Michelle witnessed inside the House of Commons and how her experience in politics changed the way she views government and leadership
โ€ข the Freedom Convoy, the Emergencies Act and the moment she says changed her perception of political power
โ€ข Mark Carney, Canadian energy, Alberta and whether proposed pipelines will actually get built
โ€ข Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative Party and why Michelle believes storytelling could be the key to connecting with Canadians
โ€ข immigration, Canadian identity and the need to protect what makes this country unique
โ€ข rebuilding trust, accountability and getting Canadians engaged instead of surrendering to political apathy

The conversation ultimately comes back to what it means to be Canadian.

Michelle says she is โ€œalways proud to be Canadianโ€ and believes Canada has everything it needs โ€” its people, geography, culture and resources โ€” but that Canadians need to become more patriotic and reestablish a stronger sense of who we are.

Her message is clear: use your voice, tell your story and donโ€™t stop fighting for the Canada you know and love.

A passionate, unfiltered conversation about politics, leadership, accountability and the future of Canada. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

PROUD TO BE CANADIAN? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Ben Mulroney says there is no question whether he is proud to be Canadian.

โ€œ100%.โ€ For Ben, being Canadian runs through his DNA โ€” but he rejects the idea that Canadian patriotism requires being anti-American or booing the U.S. national anthem.

He argues that Canada should be proud of what it is while still recognizing where the country needs to improve.

And the opportunity, he says, is enormous.

Ben believes Canada needs to unlock the potential of its economy, natural resources and entrepreneurs โ€” creating the wealth necessary to strengthen the country and project Canadian values around the world.

If Canada can get out of its own way and unleash that potential, Ben believes the next century could be Canadaโ€™s century.

โ€œIt can be again.โ€ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Are you proud to be Canadian โ€” and do you believe Canadaโ€™s best years are still ahead?

TORONTO โ€” SHOW UP AND VOTE ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Ben Mulroney shares his assessment of Olivia Chow, Toronto politics and why he believes voter turnout could determine the future of the city.

Ben argues that the political left in Toronto is extremely organized, disciplined and effective at mobilizing its supporters โ€” particularly at the municipal level.

He says Olivia Chowโ€™s supporters are active and consistently show up, while many voters who are unhappy with the direction of Toronto simply donโ€™t vote.

And that, Ben argues, is the problem.

If Torontonians donโ€™t like how their city is being run, they have an opportunity to hold their politicians accountable โ€” but only if they actually participate.

Ben makes clear that people should vote for whoever they believe in, including Olivia Chow. His message is bigger than any one candidate:

โ€œShow up.โ€

If youโ€™re unhappy with the direction Toronto is heading, will you be voting? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

LET TORONTONIANS BUILD TORONTO ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Ben Mulroney delivers a passionate assessment of Toronto โ€” and what he believes the city needs to become great again.

Ben argues that politicians have spent too much time dividing Torontonians into different groups and โ€œsilos,โ€ rather than encouraging people to see each other as equals who are building the same city together.

He points out that Toronto didnโ€™t become a world-class city because government planned it that way. It happened because talented, ambitious people built businesses, created opportunities and pushed the city forward โ€” while government largely stayed out of their way.

His message is simple: politicians should focus on the essential responsibilities of government and then empower Torontonians to do what they do best.

โ€œLet Torontonians build Toronto.โ€

Do politicians need to get out of the way and allow the talent and potential of Torontoโ€™s people to lead the city forward? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

JOURNALISM SHOULD CHALLENGE EVERYONE ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Ben Mulroney reflects on his time hosting The West Block and an attempted boycott against him โ€” one he says ultimately failed โ€” before making a broader point about what journalism is supposed to be.

Ben argues that good journalism shouldnโ€™t be about protecting one political side or attacking another. A journalistโ€™s responsibility is to ask difficult questions, challenge people in power and hold governments accountable โ€” regardless of which party is in office.

For Ben, political bias becomes a problem when journalists begin viewing their role through the lens of helping or hurting a particular party rather than pursuing the story and asking the questions Canadians deserve answers to.

His broader point: journalism works best when nobody gets a free pass. Conservatives, Liberals and everyone in between should expect to be challenged.

Do you think Canadians still trust traditional media to hold every political party equally accountable? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

WHAT WENT WRONG FOR POILIEVRE? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Ben Mulroney breaks down where he believes Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives went wrong in the last election โ€” despite believing Poilievre has been right on many of the major issues facing Canada.

Ben says Poilievre was essentially โ€œbuilt in a lab to beat Justin Trudeau.โ€ But when Donald Trump suddenly became a major factor in Canadian politics, the political landscape changed.

In Benโ€™s view, Mark Carney and the Liberals adapted quickly to Trumpโ€™s rhetoric, while the Conservatives failed to respond as effectively โ€” and he still isnโ€™t convinced theyโ€™ve figured out how to navigate Canadaโ€™s current political environment.

One major mistake, he argues, was keeping traditional media off Poilievreโ€™s campaign plane. With Conservatives struggling among older voters, Ben questions why outlets like CBC, CTV and Global werenโ€™t given greater access when those are still the primary sources of political news for many boomers.

Ben still believes Poilievre has been โ€œright about most of the important thingsโ€ โ€” but says politics isnโ€™t simply about being right. Itโ€™s about communicating those ideas in a way that connects with enough Canadians to actually win.

His broader point: Trump changed the election, every party had to adapt, and the Liberals simply responded better than the Conservatives did.

Do you think Poilievre and the Conservatives need to change their strategy to win the next election? ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
