📍Kan Eang Thai Bistro - 518 Lt Bourke St, Melbourne VIC

🍥 CURE SALMON CEVICHE $23
🍗 THAI CHICKEN SATAY SKEWER $18
🍝 SEAFOOD TOM YUM LINGUINE $25
🐟 SEARED BARRAMUNDI RED CURRY $33
🥜 ROTI WITH HOUSE MADE PEANUT SAUCE $5.5
🦆 DRY AGED DUCK RICE POT WITH MARINATED EGG YOLK $29

*FEED ME (ALL INCLUSIVE) $59 PP*

👑 - Feel-good dining with a creative edge quietly delivering solid Thai traditional flavours, a comfortable vibe, and just enough originality to keep things interesting.

* @kaneang.thaibistro is a modern Thai spot, backed by the team behind @kaneang.melbourne, blending tradition with innovation.
* Expect classic Thai staples like fragrant curries alongside more inventive dishes like Thai pizzas and pasta.
* I can assure you, a few extra steps past No 12 is nothing short of a giant leap for your tastebuds.
* The 🍝 SEAFOOD TOM YUM LINGUINE is not a gimmick, it’s a full-blown identity upgrade. It shouldn’t work this well… but it really does. And something you won't find this good anywhere else.
* The 🦆 DRY AGED DUCK RICE POT is full of duck, full of rice, and full of flavour.
* And just when you think the menu has peaked, along comes the 🐟 SEARED BARRAMUNDI RED CURRY, perfectly paired with the 🥜 ROTI WITH HOUSE MADE PEANUT SAUCE.
* The roti on its own is good but seriously with the curry, it becomes essential.
* Everything here plays well together, like a menu designed for delicious improvisation.
* Then there’s the Feed Me offering – at $59 per person, it’s less a set menu and more a controlled feast. The choice is yours and suddenly you’re the curator of your own Thai banquet, with zero wrong answers.
* And guard those leftovers like treasure, because they reheat like a dream and somehow taste even better the next day.

@frenchie.melb

📍Frenchie - 1/15 Collins St, Melbourne VIC

🦀 PETITS CHOUX DE CRABE $14
🐌 BRIOCHE AUX ESCARGOTS $14
🐷 TERRINE DE PORC AUX PISTACHES $14
🐟 STEAK DE THON AU POIVRE $14
🦆 MARGRET DE CANARD A L'ORANGE $14
🥩 STEAK WITH ENTRECOTE SAUCE $14 (add🍟 FRITES $7)
🥔 GNOCCHI A LA PARISIENNE $14
🥬 GRATIN DE CHOUX DE BRUXELLES $14
🍫 MOUSSE AU CHOCOLAT $14

👑 - Where the playful flat $14 price tag is pas cher et plus delicieux, encouraging you and your crew to share more, order more, and linger longer without fussing over the bill.

* There are dinners and then there is un soir at @frenchie.melbourne that is an experience unto its own.
* Completely booked out for good reason after their 60 seconds of Today Show fame, the moment I walked in for my birthday it was pure hospitality inclusive of a handwritten card, effortless banter, and service that felt personal.
* Like the sushi of French food, the plates are dangerously easy to keep ordering “just one more.”
* They come out fast so take your time and don’t overload the table too quickly.
* The 🦀 PETITS CHOUX DE CRABE were creamy and delicate whilst the 🐌 BRIOCHE AUX ESCARGOTS was a rich rendition of French comfort.
* The 🍝 GNOCCHI À LA PARISIENNE was a Parisian wink to pasta.
* The 🦆 MAGRET DE CANARD À L’ORANGE was like a tango on the tongue and the 🥩 STEAK WITH ENTRECOTE SAUCE deserves its own fan club - two plates of this and your night is made.
* And the 🥬 GRATIN DE CHOUX DE BRUXELLES might not take a pretty picture but is mandatory (you'll thank me later).
* En fait, the 🐟 STEAK DE THON AU POIVRE was honestly the best thing on the menu and worthy of an accidental double order.
* And the $14 cocktails mean every hour is happy hour!
* The whole $14-everything concept is not just a gimmick, it’s a social experiment in joy where each bite feels like a little scene in a bigger flavour story.
* This isn’t just dinner, it's the royal treatment.

@komemelbourne

📍Kome Eatery - 4/845 Collins St, Docklands VIC

🔥 FLAMING SALMON BOWL $24.9
🍗 CHICKEN KATSU WITH JAPANESE CURRY & RICE $18.9
🍚 UNAGI KATSU TEISHOKU $32.9
🐟 SALMON SAIKYO YAKI TEISHOKU $28.9

👑 - Polished without the pretence, reliable without being boring, and proof that good food with good energy will always outshine the noise.

* @komemelbourne is a cafe date done right.
* Tucked away at the bottom end of Collins St, it's the kind of place you could visit midweek for something reliable or bring friends to when you want to look like you know spots in and around the city.
* Their extensive drink menu is worth highlighting as is their 🔥 FLAMING SALMON BOWL which came pre-torched but still worthy of a headline act with its caramelised edged aburi salmon, creamy sauces and tobikko topping.
* The TEISHOKU sets are worth it even if only to get your chopsticks on those chicken karaage and octopus sides that could easily stand alone as their own menu items.
* The 🍚 UNAGI KATSU (eel) is worth a try but is more crumb then protein.
* And the 🍗 CHICKEN KATSU WITH JAPANESE CURRY & RICE was rich without being overwhelming and indulgent without being heavy.
* It's not try hard nor excessive, just good food, good energy, and a kitchen that clearly cares.

@yeshirestaurant

📍Yeshi Ethopian Restaurant - 328 Brunswick Rd, Fitzroy VIC

🍛 TASTE OF YESHI $37 PP

👑 - More than just dinner, it's authentic Ethiopian comfort food served fresh to order in a cosy Fitzroy setting. Rich curries, beautifully spiced proteins and the kind of hands on dining experience that turns a meal into a memory.

* Trying Ethiopian food for the first time, @yeshirestaurant was the perfect introduction.
* In a small, humble space that’s quickly gaining a loyal following, one thing I will say upfront: call ahead and book. The venue is intimate and with its growing popularity, tables don’t sit empty for long.
* Nothing here is pre-made so be prepared to settle in and enjoy the pace. This isn’t fast food. It’s slow, intentional, and worth the wait!
* The 🍛 TASTE OF YESHI was a colourful mosaic of curries laid across a large sheet of injera bread, with extra injera served on the side.
* It might not look like an overwhelming amount of food, but that assumption didn't last long. It turned out to be a feast, generous and deeply satisfying.
* And ditching the forks to eat with our hands was a vibe.
* Trust me, it didn’t take long before the Chicken Doro Wat was on my top and the Beef Qey Wat had found its way onto mum’s pants.
* The curries were rich and deeply spiced but not spicy. The chicken was elite but it was the Lamb Tibs that completely won me over. And don't skip the goat either.
* For my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine, I couldn’t have picked a better place. It’s not just dinner. It’s family.

@supersede_coffee

📍Supersede Coffee - 510-521 Elizabeth St, Melbourne VIC

🧀 KIMCHI MELT $16
🍗 CHICKEN COTOLETTA $18
🥒 PASTRAMI $17
🍏 APPLE CRUMBLE CAKE $9
🥐 PISTACHIO CROISSANT $9
🌰 STRONG ICED HOJICHA $8.5
🥭 MANGO ICED MATCHA $12.5

👑 Regal's Review - If you love a cafe that does simple things with obsessive polish, this is the kind of place that turns quick market detours into proper little rituals.

* Hidden in plain sight at the Elizabeth St entrance to the Queen Vic Market is @supersede_coffee - a sleek, daylight-filled counter with solid coffee and non-coffee options alike that read like grown-up alternatives rather than afterthoughts.
* With sparkling water on tap, it's the small things that make it feel expensive.
* Get the 🍕 KIMCHI MELT and watch the cheese pull do it's thing, then let the spicy-tangy kimchi cut through all that gooey cheese like a flavour power move.
* The 🥒 PASTRAMI was lack lustre in comparison.. not bad, just not the showstopper you might be expecting.
* But if you’re chasing volume, flavour and pure Instagram appeal, the 🍗 CHICKEN COTOLETTA is it, built with the kind of presence that demands a close-up and tastes every bit as good as it looks.
* The pastry case is a reliable “your-usual-suspects” selection done well, like the 🥐 PISTACHIO CROISSANT.
* The 🍏 APPLE CRUMBLE CAKE leans a touch too sweet for my taste, but a dollop of cream (when the staff remember to bring it) calms that sweetness into something more balanced.
* Service is brisk and market-savvy, but still thoughtful about quality and presentation, and the location nails that perfect people-watching + market-energy combo.
* Overall, it sits comfortably in that sweet spot of being market-friendly, photogenic, and quietly serious about what it puts on the plate.

@maido_melbourne

📍Maido Eatery - 363 Chapel St, South Yarra VIC

🍤 PRAWN KATSU SANDO $18.9
🍗 YUZU CHICKEN SANDO $17.9
🍝 DRY SESAME UDON $25.9
🍱 CHICKEN NANBAN SET MEAL $23.9
🪷 ASSORTED TEMPURA DONBURI $18.9
🐙 TAKO KARAAGE $14.9
🥩 JAPANESE BEEF RICE BOWL $18.9
🥛 ICED HOJICHA $6.5

👑 Regal's Review - Cheap, honest Japanese comfort food on Chapel Street that feels made-for-everyday feasting with meals that punch well above their price and are dangerously easy to come back for.

* Walking into @maido_melbourne feels like finding a backup plan that’s actually better than the plan.
* It's approachable Japanese comfort food with a menu built to deliver maximum flavour with minimal damage to your wallet.
* The 🍤 PRAWN KATSU SANDO and 🍗 YUZU CHICKEN SANDO stood out for being indulgent without being expensive.
* Each bite was honestly crunchy, fresh and flavour-packed.
* Share the 🐙 TAKO KARAAGE for something snacky, then move onto the beautifully balanced 🍝 DRY SESAME UDON or the comforting 🍱 CHICKEN NANBAN.
* The 🥩 JAPANESE BEEF RICE BOWL was a great addition for something hearty and warming. And the 🪷 ASSORTED TEMPURA DONBURI delivered assorted prawn & vegetable tempura over rice for a solid, satisfying mix of textures and flavours without pushing the price.
* The staff are genuinely warm without a hint of performance — quick to top you up, recommend a dish or slide over an extra spoon, and if you’re very lucky might even let you run away with that glorious 10-gallon tin of gochujang (unlikely, but worth a shot).
* With generous portions across the board, this isn't fine dining and instead turns a “big feed” into a cheap feast leaving you full, happy and already planning your return.
