I recently embarked on a week-long solo hiking trip through the Pacific Northwest, specifically Olympic National Park and the Oregon Coast. Something I had never done before, but I was up for the challenge.

This was my birthday gift to myself. My own mini Eat, Pray, Love trip.

Along the way, I visited Seattle, Port Angeles, Marymere Falls, Lake Crescent, Forks, La Push, Second Beach, Hoh Rainforest, Ruby Beach, Kalaloch Beach, Lake Quinault, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park, Indian Beach, Cape Kiwanda, Portland and Multnomah Falls.

But this trip became about so much more than the places I visited and hiked.

It gave me the opportunity to let go of some things. It gave me confirmation on others. And, most importantly, it restored me.

Being in nature grounds me and brings me so much joy, and this trip proved that more than I could have ever imagined.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more photos and videos from the trip, along with some of my experiences, reflections and lessons from along the way.

So I hope you follow along for the journey.

ASHY CAMPING 2026
It was a time y'all 🏕
Officially happy that this happened even with the wonky weather. With great people and super support coming together made it happen. So many things brought this to life. And it started by just calling someone out and telling them to handle their ashy business 😆
From first time campers to meal preppers and explorative steppers, we enjoyed a weekend with more ideas and possibilities to come.
Everyone cooked, sang, danced, DJ'd, and even gave us some good language lessons. New and old friends came together and Shenandoah mountains were incredible.

The park is something to experience and it's an hour from D.C. So thankful 🙏🏾 for those coming cross country. Driving incredible hours and the DMV soldier that held our area down. So pleased to camp with y'all

Shindig on camper hoomans. 🍁
Getting ready for next year.

GROUNDED NYC returns for the Third Installment!!! 🌍

GROUNDED is annual celebration of Climate Week NYC paying tribute to the earth and all it bears in shaping Black and Brown joy. 🤎

Come. Get GROUNDED.

Nothing like a camping trip with your buddies! 🏕 We had such a good time in rural Pennsylvania at The Woods Campground, surrounded by trees, fresh air, good laughs, and even better company. It also happened to be Pride Weekend at the campgrounds, so even better! I'm truly grateful for weekends like this. #camping

I spent the Sunday of Juneteenth weekend on the Appalachian Trail with @outlandish.nyc, hiking through Greenwood Lake and Bellvale for a 3.5-mile adventure that gave us a little bit of everything.

We had rock scrambles, two scenic overlooks, a trail shelter, switchbacks and plenty of moments to catch our breath and take it all in. The waterfall was dried out, so we had to skip that part, but honestly, the views still showed out.

And of course, no good hike is complete without a sweet ending. We wrapped things up at Bellvale Farms Creamery, which was the perfect reward after a day on the trail. #hiking

3.8-mile hike in Garrison, NY with the homie @dierre_donte 🥾

Hudson River views, a peek at West Point, waterfall moments, lush greenery, and just enough drizzle to remind us we were, in fact, outside outside.

Good miles, good views, good company. Can’t ask for much more than that. Friends that hike together, stay together. #hiking

Hiking (or just being out in nature) is good for the soul. 🥾 This 3.3 mile hike along the Mossy Glen, Blueberry Run and Lower Awosting Carriage Road trails in Minnewaska State Park was so peaceful.

The sound of the creek, the towering trees, expansive trails, lush greenery, and sharing it with my good friend/sister @jacquelinetwillie was everything that I needed. This definitely won't be my last time hiking in Minnewaska. Happy Hiking! ✌🏾

Nothing like the first hike of the season. 🚶‍♂️⛰️⁣⁣
This 3.4-mile trek took us along the Arden Point/Glenclyffe Loop Trail in Garrison, NY. And to top it all off, we wrapped up the day with beers and lunch at River Outpost Brewing Company in Peekskill, NY. The perfect ending. ⁣Thanks to my buds @lamar_brandon and @p_ryadh for joining me!⁣

I'd also like to introduce my newest edition to the @hellodrfter lineup... Drfter Outdoors. We bring people together through hikes, beginner-friendly camping trips, and seasonal outdoor experiences designed for connection, fresh air, and adventure. ⁣⁣
