Can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since my last post 😅 This whole year is FLYING. But here are some writing & art life highlights from April through June 🌸

Visiting the legendary Dr. Erna Brodber with the @offthepageja crew ☺️

@preelitmag’s inaugural artist residency exhibition ft. @thelittlenameless.art & Jag Mehta! @theimzeffect stopped by and it became a lil @papinewritingcollective link up 😁

@poetrysocietyja celebrating the life of Tommy Ricketts, one of the original founders and long-time President. Tommy, we miss you. When the orchestra echoes through the cut stone amphitheatre, I can still feel your spirit 🙏

Coworking seshes w/ the GYAL WUK crew (@kayonnechristy @hellofrom_dana @suelynchoo @morghansfieldnotess) have been vital for keeping me on track in this, the busiest year of my life thus far 🥲

Getting my @burnaway MYTH reader & seeing my write up on @leasho_johnson’s Anansi series in print! 🥹

Closing night gathering of “GRIEF: Love Persisting” by @stazlab & @aleemscorner 🌙

This exhibition was rooted in the question: “How can art be used as collective catharsis for grief?”

@byemmamiles and @heathersutherlandwade hosted the most lovely artist gathering on archiving practice. Learned a lot and laughed a lot with new friends and old ☺️ @always_lstr @djsinista1 @kianne.patrice @adunkleyportfolio @kidbazzle @fionagodfreyart

Mounting @preelitmag’s Writing Studio! Gathering writers from across the world here in Kingston is always a joy to witness and be part of.

Moderating a panel on AI & publishing with @anniepaulish, @savageinsight, and @johnnytemple127 for @preelitmag’s public programming

Loved being part of @poettanyashirley’s module on Documentary Poetry — super insightful and lots to still think about. We had a fab group 🫶 @poetrybypetari @floweringpunk46 @suegoffe @neptuna.oshuna @kacy.garvey @thewaterisalullaby

One week later and the Calabash tabanca is hitting 🥲

What better way to celebrate the end of my first MFA semester than @calabashfestival: the best likkle festival, in the best likkle district, in the best likkle parish, in the best likkle country!

From getting to witness and meet authors whose work has shaped my own, to late night craft chats with @bydanafletcher + @kam.ziii, to getting to read on the open mic segment again, Calabash never fails to fill my cup.

Big up to @kwame.dawes, @justinehenzell, and team for creating this special space 🙌

& ty to @scribe.rm for capturing my open mic moment ☺️
