every end of the year i try to reflect and contextualize what i’ve experienced and how i’m stepping into the next chapter of my life.

this year was different.

almost everything i thought was good for me was stripped away. like being placed in a forge, my life burned down to its core and it forced me to question my very existence. i’ve been through difficult seasons before and i’ve always believed i could juggernaut my way through anything with enough willpower.

but this wasn’t that.

this was a full examination of my thoughts, desires and beliefs. one of the most painful experiences i’ve had to endure.

it had me asking questions i couldn’t ignore anymore.

was i actually living in alignment with the life i wanted, or was i being led by fear?
were old traumas resurfacing in ways i didn’t recognize at first?
was i making myself small to maintain a room’s temperature?
was i overextending myself in places where i should have set boundaries earlier?
was i overly attuned to other people’s doubts?
was my ego blocking meaningful progress?
can i show up without needing to perform at the edge of my capacity and just be a person?

the urgency was overwhelming. conundrums and uncertainties, being in my late 20s and watching friends i admire successfully doing the damn thing.

but i realized it wasn’t speed that i needed to answer these questions.

it was slowing down. long enough to hear myself think. long enough to process years of breakneck motion. long enough to ask who i am outside of expectations and what i actually want to do.

and in that stillness, something shifted.

when you choose alignment, you learn that doors can open naturally. that outside of willpower, purpose and impact are also incredible sources of energy. that friends and loved ones can heal you just as deeply as they can hurt you. that a season of stillness can help you integrate both the shadows you carry and the light you shine into a more consistent version of yourself.

i don’t know if these reflections help anyone else. but it’s grounding to finally be in a place where opinions are just data points and i get to choose which ones are useful for who i’m becoming.

Sweet Prague ✨
what a feast for the senses! I loved the pretty pastel baroque architecture, listening to the live orchestra in a church, and having the best lunch we had the whole trip!
