capture on! 🪄
my favourite of all the pokemon side games - pokemon ranger! 🏔️

this series is notorious for ruining ds touch screens, but i think it must be a skill issue - i never had that problem 💅

drawing loops frantically around pokemon as they attack you and run off screen is a hard sell, but it really works. as awkward as it seems, it’s a shockingly fun way to catch pokemon. 🙂‍↕️

in these games, you play as a pokemon ranger; a bit of an all rounder when it comes to helping the public, looking after the environment, protecting pokemon, and stopping crime. 🚨 you use your capture styler to befriend wild pokemon, who allow you to utilise their moves either in the field (to remove obstacles and access new areas), or in captures (to help make capturing pokemon easier). 🙌

i’ve always loved that instead of trying to beat gyms and become a pokemon master, these games focused on being the most helpful and kind person you can be in each region you explore. 💚 there are a lot of side quests featuring a lot of people, with all sorts of mundane tasks and problems, and they are always so grateful for your assistance! ☺️

they aren’t lacking in the story department either; all of these games have a goofy cast of characters with equally as goofy writing, plus all sorts of fun twists. 🌀 i love the art style and i looooove the music!

if you’re looking for a unique pokemon adventure, make your next game one from the ranger series 🔥🤩

my favourite is shadows of almia - what are yours? ⭐️

🏃‍♂️ mario and sonic at the olympic games 🥇

as the commonwealth games have just wrapped up (with australia absolutely dominating btw 😮‍💨) it’s a good time to have a look at these classics!

i genuinely believe that these 4 games are the only ones worth trying in this entire series; the gameplay is the best, winter olympics on the ds has a story mode, and they hold up shockingly well for 2008 and 2010 releases. 🙂‍↕️

i absolutely LOVED playing these on the wii! 🤩 i felt like an absolute god when i figured out the stamina mechanic for swimming and track events. 🏊‍♂️ i totally smoked my little brother in every race and he was so pissed, as i’m sure you can imagine 😅

unironically, if you can only play one of these, make sure it’s winter olympics on the ds. it’s so good!! ❄️⛷️ a full story mode with some small elements of exploration, it’s honestly so fun. i also can’t help but laugh at the goofy ass way the title screen says winter olympic games. look it up, you wont be disappointed 🥴

have you guys ever played these? they’re so nostalgic for me!! let me know 👇 🙌
