Amongst the changes to routine, make sure you continue to read aloud to your students. Listening to someone read can be such a comfort...even if it is from a distance. 💖 #authenticityinedu #tlapdownunder #helloliteracy

I love seeing the thinking behind these inferences and the conversations about our different experiences they brought about! @hellojenjones @helloliteracy #pictureoftheday #hellolitcon

Struggling to know how to help your child during their time off of school? While there are an abundance of online resources (which we will share at a later time), one of the best things you can do is have your child read. Read together, have them read solo, read to their stuffed animals, just read, read, read. Not only will it benefit them academically, but slipping into another world for a brief amount of time is exactly what everyone needs during this time of uncertainty.

🌈Any other teachers that have to prep alternative learning packs? I’m at a title one school so we can’t do e-learning. I’m sending some extra stuff like their poetry book and some magic of math games in their packet! (A long with district made plans and the work pack from my last post) Hopefully this will excite them instead of being bored or staring at the tv all day!

Delivery delivery delivery!!! Yes we were blessed to have today to get our students prepared to be out for a while! .

I filled my cart with all the books and went classroom to classroom!! Yes,my students could take library books home also! But, these were extra books , books I told them they could keep forever! All I wanted them to do was have more books to read and love over our extended break ❤️ .

Where did I get all these extra books? ...
We throughout the years have had “book swaps” and have purchased books in book fairs to help provide extra books to our students during book swap time!! I took all the books we have bought and flooded their classrooms, arms and backpacks with all the books for their long break ❤️ .

Let’s continue to share our favorite reads, new picture books and characters our classrooms and libraries must have throughout our break!! #everydayislibraryday #picturebooksaremyjam #elementaryteacher #elementarylibrarian #iteachkindergarten #iteachfirstgrade #iteachsecondgrade #scholastic #bookstagram #books #librariansofinstagram #bookpusher

“How good is professional development when you are engaged in everything you are learning! 🤓 Yesterday, I reconnected with the amazing @hellojenjones at the #hellolitcon on the Gold Coast 💕 ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Jen spoke about and demonstrated so many great things but I wanted to share her recipe for student success:✔️ A good teacher✔️Access to lots of books✔️ Lots of time to READ✔️ Lots of time to WRITE✔️ Some timely feedback ✔️LOVEIt is so simple, so achievable and every individual teacher can put their own spin on it! ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Every thing Jen had to say resonated because unlike lots of other professional development, it was obvious she knew how a classroom runs and what it is like to be on the front line as a teacher 👩‍🏫⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I’m hoping it won’t be a long time until I get to hear Jen speak again! It certainly has got me excited about teaching reading and how powerful we are in our role as educators 🌈”⁣⁣

Finally home from an amazing PD with @hellojenjones So absolutely grateful I got to share the experience with an amazing work colleague and got to meet amazing teachers from this amazing community. I got to plan the week ahead on the drive home and chat about books! How weird is it when you chat about something and it pops up on your feed? Seems a visit is due @bookwarehousecoffs So now I’m unpacked washing is on and I have 2 outfits ready for the week ahead ( thanks @mrs_humphrey_ @laceyandgloria 😉) Now to find an outfit for Firies appreciation day tomorrow and Harmony day Friday mmmmm any ideas lol!!
