I think about the little girl version of me a lot.

The little girl who made up dances in the living room and played with all of her parents’ records. The one who had big dreams before she knew all the reasons they might not work out. Before she worried about being realistic, being too much, or what anyone else thought.

Sometimes I remind myself that I’m still doing this for her.
Every time I take a chance, walk into a room that scares me, or keep going after something I really want, I’m showing up for that little girl too.

I hope she’d look at my life now and think, “Wait…we get to do all this?”

It’s been a little over a week since @moulinrougebway took its final bow, and we are still reeling from all the love, joy and celebration of what was an unforgettable weekend.

It was so special to bring together so many people who have been part of the show’s journey, celebrating not only the final performance, but the collective passion, dedication and creativity that have shaped the show over the last seven years.

Broadway was the spark that lit the flame for Moulin Rouge! The Musical. As the first Australian-produced musical to originate on Broadway, it was a leap of faith that became something far bigger than any of us could have imagined. Since then, the show has reached more than 14 million people around the world, and the legacy that now lives on in theatres worldwide belongs to the Broadway company and to every person who helped build it, support it and believe in it.

To the cast, crew, orchestra, creative team, associates, resident creatives, technical teams, company and general managers, marketing and press teams, front of house staff, box office teams, security staff, co-producers, underlying rights holders and, of course, the incredible fans, thank you for bringing to life the values at the heart of this show: Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Love.

Thank you for making this journey so extraordinary. We could not be prouder of what we built together, and we will carry these memories and this legacy with us for years to come. 🥹❤️

Over the course of @moulinrougebway’s Broadway (and pre-Broadway) life, @evzmm and I did 40 shoots for the show. That’s a lot of truth, beauty, freedom, and photos. Yet we’ll always want a bit more rouge. Grateful to every single person on stage and off who made it so special.

And the hugest of shout outs to @pjz who retouched the production photos throughout the run. 🙌🏻

Before audiences fell in love with these productions, they fell in love with an image. A Broadway poster has one job: stop someone in Times Square, on Instagram, or flipping through a Playbill and convince them to lean in. The best key art truly becomes part of the show’s identity.

Read about the artwork from this year’s Tony Award nominated shows at the link in bio.

Behind the scenes of the WANTED key art photo shoot

This was really fun day on set. The day was divided into two parts: for the first half of the day, @oliver_rosser would be photographing the key art for the upcoming Broadway production of @wantedmusical with me capturing behind the scenes photos. Then, for the second half of the day, I would be creating the editorial photo collection of Solea and Liisi in modern day attire. It was a long day but also an opportunity to showcase two core pillars of my creative practice: the observer and also the crafter.

Thank you so much to RPM @alybirdy and @jeffschulzcreative for the call, Oliver for the brilliant, @_solaylay and @liisilafontaine for their energy, grace, and talent, and to all of the other artists in this room for making the day so creatively rejuvenating.
