This piece of neo-gothic architecture art that you see here is Trönninge church. It was completed in 1894, but what’s more interesting is the fact that this is not the original church that once was known as “Trönning church”.

The original church (pic 5 and 6) is believed to have been built around the 1100s - 1200s. Not much is known about the old church, what is known is that it was believed that the old church was not big enough for the growing population in the area. It also had a low ceiling, so if you were to wear a tall hat inside it would probably be knocked off your head, if you were not careful.

After the new church was inaugurated in 1894, the medieval church was demolished. The only remains of it is a hill ruin 50 meters northwest of where the new church is located.

The current church was designed by Sven Gratz, who seemed to have taken a special liking to neo-gothic architecture. Some of the items that were brought from the old church were the communion vessels, chasuble, altarpiece, pulpit and a triumphal crucifix. The pulpit is in fact Halland's oldest pulpit in Renaissance style.
