What a weekend! Trailwalker 2023 did not disappoint, with 111 military and 78 civilian teams taking part, and the weather was perfect to cover 100km over the South Downs! Well done to everyone who took part, helped organise it (in particular the Queen's Gurkha Signals) and massive congrats to the winning team (also QGS) who did it in an astonishing 10hrs 23mins! Everyone who took part helped raise a huge amount if money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

#hardmoors superslam: thank you 2021

Good turnout last night for the 2021 presentation. Great to get my hands on the Superslam trophy after a long year of racing. Photos from each race with some of the people who helped me on the way and I had the pleasure of running.

Special mention to the long suffering finish line family who are always there no matter the weather with the doctor pepper and boost bars to stop the shaking 😳

BGR leg 2 Plod including the Swirral edge and Striding Edge, Helvellyn.

Long day in the fell with running buddy @hem.runner from Keswick to Ambleside bagging the Wainwrights. The weather was amazing - clear blue sky with no wind but boggy at places. Coming down to Ambleside in dark was a challenge. Supposed to run TdH @nav4adventure today but had to cancel it, then the substitution run wasn't bad either.

Hardmoors 110 DNF

First attempt of 100 miler event 'the holi grail of ultra distance'. Albeit not enough training under the belt, mentally I was prepared for the event. Pushing to the limits was the motto but then the body could not cope as I pulled left calf at 60miles point. Determined to carry on, the Roseberry Topping and then the infamous '3 Sisters' of the Cleveland Way won the gruesome duel against my physical state and it was not worth a risk to drag the body for another 28 miles - sadly had to make the call at 82 miles point.

So glad with my achievement of going that far with lots of lesson identified - most importantly 'get adequate training'. Read & heard many DNFs and having a firsthand experience gives you the hunger, desire and the determination to come back for more. Next time I will train properly and wisely before attempting such fete.

Lastly, thanks to @roseberry.topping.1 and @shirleyjsteele and all hardshalls for a brilliant event. My gratitude to all my families, friends and followers for your wishes and kind words. We were very fortunate to have excellent support from our superb crew - special thanks to @ghale36, @tsampso @a.s.h.1.s.h whom I am very indebted too. Finally, huge congratulations to my runningbuddy @ranahem799 for finishing the event with a great timings. You are a true inspiration, when I called you from Clay Bank CP, your remark 'Huh, cutoff is 36 hours you can crawl to Helmsley' 😳🤣
