Drew’s first college golf tournament took us to Rocky Top! My takeaway from the first event? Drew is at home and belongs amongst all these great kids and golfers. So proud of him.

🏆 Our 2026 keynote speaker is set: Brian Henninger is joining us at the Clark County Cup!

Brian's a two-time PGA Tour winner, a two-time All-American at USC, and he shared the 54-hole lead at the 1995 Masters before finishing T-10. These days he's based right here in the Pacific Northwest, coaching junior golfers and co-owning The Golf Farm.

Our players are in for a night of great stories — including what it felt like walking into that final round at Augusta with a share of the lead.

📅 Monday, October 5 | Royal Oaks Country Club 🏌️ Tee times at 1PM, banquet & awards to follow

Getting ready for the @helixgolfinstitute seminar hosted by @henningergolffarm Aug 31st–Sept 1st. Link in bio.

At our seminars, we like to take a second look at some commonly held beliefs and conventions.

This one is a favorite of mine. I was a huge pain in the ass in PT school… constantly questioning why we were pulling our belly buttons in and then trying to “selectively” engage our core. 😆

A version of that same idea still shows up all the time in golf: more muscle activity = better.

It’s pretty easy to put a band around someone’s knees, stand them on a BOSU ball, have them swing a club, and celebrate when core activity goes up.

But should more core activity… by itself…. ever be the goal?

Quinn et al. prospectively followed injury-free elite golfers for six months. The golfers who went on to develop low-back pain had greater dominant rectus abdominis and latissimus dorsi activity BEFORE they developed pain.

This does NOT mean more abdominal activity is going to hurt you. It’s an association, not causation. And it certainly doesn’t mean strength training is bad or that less activity is always better.

It does challenge the assumption that seeing more activity on EMG automatically means we’ve improved something.

And I’m not sure replacing “more core” with “activate the right core” solves the problem either. Replace glutes or obliques or whatever consists of the “deep core.” Or my favorite … the fascial line we’ve decided needs to be plugged in.

We can keep changing the muscle, or the direction of force 😉 … but the assumption stays the same… if I can get more activity out of the thing I’ve decided is important, I must be making the movement better.

But what might be the tradeoff?

Helix Golf is headed to Oregon!

August 31st–September 1st at The Golf Farm just outside Portland.

Two days of practical sessions around movement, golf performance, training, and how we actually apply this stuff with players.

In this clip, a quick look at one of the things we’ll dig into: how rib cage shape and pressure distribution can change the options you have available to turn and ultimately deliver energy to the club.

Full schedule in story.

Hope to see you there.

🏔️ 2026 SUMMIT OPEN | A Championship to Remember! 🏆

What an incredible week.

Thank you to every player, parent, sponsor, volunteer, and Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club for making the first Summit major one we’ll never forget.

🏆 Congratulations to 2026 Summit Open Champion Cole Morgan! Cole finished in style, playing his final three holes 1-under and getting up-and-down on 18 to secure the title.

👏 Huge congratulations as well to Brody Newcombe and Calvin Johnson, who finished T-2 and battled all the way to the final hole. Three players had a chance to win coming down the stretch—that’s championship golf.

The Nashty pin locations, creative tee selections, and incredible course conditions made this one of the most fun championship layouts we’ve hosted.
