G'Day.

I Woke Up Like This...

Normally, I'd Be Prepping For A New Term Of The Course I Created x Teach Called "UNITWhy?: Why Hip Hop Culture's The World's Culture" That I Rock On Fridays.

But, Because I Am In The Midst Of Chasing Our 7th Straight @FC21AllWorld Title, I Gotta Opt Out Of Teaching The Truth To The Young Multicultural Youth For A Couple Weeks.

In The Meantime...

Not everyone who loves rap needs to become a rapper. There’s sooo many jobs in hiphop. Execs, marketing, production, writing, management etc. the youth needs to know there are numerous opportunities other than the mic. We start talking about this subject. Then we just argue. lol FULL LINK IN STORY AVAILABLE WHERE PODCAST ARE PODDING

When Supreme dropped their DJ Screw collaboration, one of the models in the campaign was Cameron Strickland (@hennyru_ ) — wearing a white SUC T-shirt with “DJ Screw 3 N The Morning” across the back.

That placement was fitting.

Strickland has spent years working behind the scenes to preserve and spotlight the history of Houston hip-hop, particularly the artists who built the sound from the late ’80s through the early 2000s. Big Hawk. Fat Pat. Big Moe. Lil Keke. ESG. Z-Ro. Trae tha Truth. The Screwed Up Click.

The people who laid the foundation that the world is still building on — and who too often go uncredited for it.

Strickland is not focused on being at the forefront. He is focused on making sure Houston’s story gets told right.

DeVaughn Douglas, Forward Times Cultural Writer, sat down with him and wrote a full article on his work you can find using the link in our bio 🔗

🗣️ Forward Fam: Who is a Houston hip-hop artist from the late ‘80s era to early 2000s who you feel the world still hasn’t given their flowers to? What did they mean to you?
