LOVE THY HEROES Summary Post: 9–11 October, Espace Vanhomwegen, Saint-Gilles Are you a hero? Someone who wears a mask and a cape? Or someone who walks into a room exactly as they are, without asking for permission first? This weekend we open Love Thy Heroes: a 3-day exhibition with DJ sets, an open mic, sound bathing and poetry, celebrating heroism in whatever form it takes. Not the hero built on conquest, but the one built on presence. VISUAL ARTISTS @salusenou : artist duo making glass-and-pewter jewellery, collages and paintings @smokeybird aka Estelle Le Nestour: mixed media exploring Carl Jung’s myth of the hero @lenka_strauss : oil and collage that take apart and reinvent images of role models MUSIC @blueeramusic : raw drum machines and gentle vocal harmonies @henry.baboy : electronic, house and techno from the co-founder of echte ra @purpleflame_____ : live poetry and an ambient set, an invitation to slow down PROGRAMME Fri 9.10: doors 19.00 / Blue Era 21.00–23.00 / &RY 23.00–01.00 Sat 10.10: doors 13.00 / open mic with Markus Rap, @laith_oscar9 & more 20.00 (soul, rap, funk) / doors close 22.00 Sun 11.10: doors 12.00 / sound bath with Purple Flame + poetry reading circle 16.00–19.00 OPEN CALL Take the stage on Saturday (rap, singing, freestyle) or bring a poem to Sunday’s circle. DM us to be confirmed. Spontaneous performers welcome too. Prints are for sale all weekend. THE WASH BUS In Cape Town, homelessness rose sharply during the pandemic, and the 2018 droughts left many without water and sanitation. The WASH bus is a fully equipped mobile bathroom for people experiencing homelessness: a hot shower that restores dignity and confidence and prevents disease. It started in Claremont in 2022 and now also serves Muizenberg and Mitchells Plain, with Absolute Ablutions, Baz-Art, U-Turn and our partner Viva con Agua South Africa. Your contribution keeps it running. Donate via the link in our bio. 📍 @_vanhomwegen , Rue de Russie 31, 1060 Saint-Gilles #lovethyheroes #lovefoundation #brussels #saintgilles #brusselsart

Here are our musical artists for "Love Thy Heroes", our next 3-day exhibition ❤️ This event takes place from 9 to 11 October at @_vanhomwegen 🌞 ➖️ MUSICAL ARTISTS ➖️ Blue Era ( @blueeramusic ) invites you on an intimate performance guided by the convergence of people, feelings and time. His set promises an immersive experience where paths of raw, grounded drum machines intertwine with gentle vocal harmonies. Purple Flame ( @purpleflame_____ ) is a feminist DJ, producer, activist and multimedia artist from Tbilisi, Georgia. She also writes poetry and explores the healing potential of audio frequencies. Using music as a platform for social change is her style, often incorporating activism into her sets and productions. This will be her debut to read live poetry and play an ambient set together. It is an invitation to slow down, reflect and rest. &Ry ( @henry.baboy ) is a DJ, singer, event curator and founder of the music collective echte ra. Brussels born and brewed, the spirit of the city is infused in his music. His sets are versatile and surprising, elements of afro electronic, house and techno bring together deep melodies and groovy beats. He aims to build bridges between artists and dancers and create a journey where deep contemplative moments melt with bass. ➖️ THE EVENT ➖️ Throughout the days, there will be DJ sets, an open-mic, sound bathing and poetry performances. ⏭️ Stay tuned for the poetry performance announcement ⏮️ The theme, programme & logistics are detailed in the pinned post 📍 We look forward to welcoming you on board for few days of art, fun and love ❤️
