Bump/Walk & Wine in the Conga Line 💃🏾🕺🏾

The Terrapin Steelband crew bringing the energy with Conga Line.

Updated: Fun fact learned from the crew in the comment section! 🇧🇧 "Conga Line" was originally composed by Spice and Co from Barbados before being covered by Byron Lee & the Dragonaires!

𝘿𝙄𝘿 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙆𝙉𝙊𝙒? 🌍🎶 Even though Caribbean music sounds distinct from island to island today, it all shares the same musical DNA.

Pioneers like Byron Lee and the Dragonaires acted as a musical bridge throughout the region, performing Jamaican Ska, Trinidadian Calypso/Soca, Bahamian Junkanoo, and Bajan rhythms. They connected the sounds, rhythms and genres from countries like Jamaica 🇯🇲, Barbados 🇧🇧, The Bahamas 🇧🇸, Montserrat 🇲🇸, and Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹.

Many are a sibling genres built for one thing: getting the community on their feet to dance! 💃💃🏾🕺🕺🏾

Declassified 📑. Releasing some rehearsal files.

Evidence of:
• getting in the groove
• tightening the rhythms
• a good time
• rhythms are infectious

A peek into our steelpan rehearsal.
Moments of listening, adjusting, repeating, and locking into the groove. The part people don’t always see is the process, the small corrections.
