🚨Newsroom shenanigans incoming🚨

I have a photos folder with some of the hijinx our newsroom gets up to and wanted to give you a glimpse into it.

Yes, I do call myself the Queen Bean when I wear the wonderful crown gifted to me by a former beacon photographer.

Also shown are some cute knickknacks I keep at my desk, including my ice cream map for Summit County and a miniature chocolate shop.

As you scroll, you may think “why is there a life-sized Santa Claus dressed in various garb at the Beacon Journal?” But what you should ask is “Why isn’t there a life-sized Santa at my place of employment?”

My two giant stuffed animals have also made appearances at the office to display our wonderful articles and fill in for me while I was on vacation.

The final photo is the one that started it all - the late-night pizza fiasco of 2023.

I went to Akron’s 10th Pride festival. My Dad only lasted only a half hour with my 30 pound tug of war. He took me home and came back later. It was my first time socializing. I pretty much tugged him left and tripped him to the right so he had to keep me short leashed and close to him. I loved walking amongst the crowd and pretty much left people alone except for when they asked to pet me and then I was all over them. He brought me back home because although as nice as I am and how beautiful they complimented me, my bark was loud and deep, similar to an adult Husky. Which I would randomly bellow at another dog or any man more than thirty feet away, or sometimes nothing at all. Like I do at home at night towards the reflection of the living room window that looks out to the fully enclosed porch.

Last Porchrokr Yellow Brick looked like this🤕, which is why Porchrokr hit a bit different this year.

We're gonna be talking about this last Porchrokr for a while, mostly because of how it felt. Most of you who visited Yellow Brick District during @hsnaporchrokr have only experienced what it is, and can dream of what it will be. But it wasn't that long ago when a reality like this was inconceivable.

Blight.. yes
Disarray, yea.
Negativity and chaos... Yes.

But there was also hope. And this past porchrokr was a reminder of how far this neighborhood has come, all on it's on, without city intervention, but instead with the support of its neighbors and surrounding communities.

Thanks to you all for being a part of this comeback story♥️
