BLURB

Sorcha died in 1849 and woke up working for Death.

Desperate to prove herself as a reaper, Sorcha buries the horrors of her human life during the Irish famine into the back of her mind and throws herself into the job. But a chance encounter with the King of the Underworld throws her life off course and everything she knows about life and death is altered completely. Her power is fading and the souls she’s meant to guide into the afterlife barely reach her anymore and she can’t explain why.

Max doesn’t mind being King of the Underworld, but he’s fairly certain he might have made a grave mistake when he gave the reaper a drop of his blood. He hadn’t meant to bridge the gap between worlds, but now, new born demons are slipping into the Underworld faster than he can track them and if the Celestial Council find out what he has done, his throne—and Sorcha’s life— won’t be the only thing at stake.

When Sorcha’s suppressed magic finally cracks to the surface, transforming a wave of animals into newborn demons overnight, the gods issue an ultimatum: hunt down every demon and bring them to the Underworld or watch them be destroyed for good. Desperate to save the innocent souls she was tasked to chaperone to their final resting place, Sorcha enlists the help of Max, only to discover that his blood didn’t just grant her new power, it has altered something fundamental in her being and Sorcha isn't entirely sure if she hates it or not.

“I try to be violent, but I get caught
A room full of doctors and an inkblot
I’m drawn into headlights, have a blind spot
Pull over and wait for too long
I wanna be stable, but I do cave”
