Org Fair is coming up! 🎉
Stop by the MLK Student Center January 21st from 12 PM–4 PM and check out some amazing organizations if you’re looking to get involved on campus. This post is just a glimpse of some of the organizations on campus—all student organizations will be present at the fair. One of the best tips for enjoying college is getting involved—yes, even just one org can change your experience!

At DSU, there’s always a place for you… and if you don’t see an org that fits? Create your own 😉

Sincerely, DSUConnect

Struggling with Sophia courses? Here’s why many students don’t pass—and how you can avoid these mistakes! 📚
🌹Sophia courses are self-paced, affordable, and great for earning college credits, but many students find them harder than expected. Here’s why students struggle and how to improve your chances of passing!

🌹Rushing Through Challenges Without Understanding Concepts
Since Sophia courses don’t have traditional exams, students sometimes speed through the quizzes (challenges) and touchstones (written assignments) without fully grasping the material.

💡 Solution: Take your time! Read the explanations for every question—even the ones you get right. Understanding concepts now will help on later challenges.

🌹 Skipping the Tutorials and Course Readings
Some students rely only on the multiple-choice questions, thinking they can guess their way through. But Sophia’s courses build on previous lessons, and skipping content makes it harder as you progress.

💡 Solution: Watch all the video tutorials and read the course materials before attempting the challenges. Taking notes can also help you retain information.
🌹Struggling with Touchstones (Written Assignments)
Touchstones require critical thinking, and if they’re not done correctly, they can be rejected or require revisions.

💡 Solution: Carefully read the grading rubric before submitting. Follow the instructions, provide detailed answers, and proofread your work before submission.

🌹Failing Too Many Challenges
Sophia gives you multiple attempts, but if you fail too many times, you might be locked out of the course.

💡 Solution: Don’t rush through attempts. If you fail, review the correct answers, revisit the lesson, and try again with a better understanding.

🌹Not Managing Time Properly
Since Sophia courses don’t have deadlines, students often put them off until the last minute, leading to rushed work and failed challenges.

💡 Solution: Set a study schedule with personal deadlines to stay on track.
