Just a small collection of the amazing armies on display at this weekends @heresyhammershow Cataclysm event. Great games against and alongside some lovely folk. The Loyalists were led to a resounding victory by the GOAT-Lord @closet_miniatures. Huge shout out to @m4tt_paints for taking Best Loyalists with his beautiful Neil Roberts inspired Sons of Horus & Emperors Children force. Also to @prospero_stands for best Traitor with his amazing Prosperine Spire Guard Solar Auxilia and a fantastic match. And congrats to @larpsidekick for taking EO’s award for his Solar Aux and a blast of a game. Finally massive props to @k0rdhal for his super unique Blackshields force, such a cool army to finally see in the flesh. Thanks everyone! 🙌

Getting @princeps_maximus Maelstrom ready for the next @heresyhammershow Maelstrom event at the end of the month, with a 2000 points Sons of Horus versus Sons of Horus Opening Gambit mission at @badmooncafe Borough. Absolutely brutal game with a bloody Juataerin versus Justaerin grudge match, where both units effectively killed each other in several rounds of combat, including a Champion cutting down a Master of Descent in a challenge, who was avenged by a Herald in a follow up challenge. That Herald then promptly ran and hid behind a building to preserve his "Honour" points 😂.

Final score was 11-6 to the Sons of Horus (🤣) but that score belies how close this game was, right down to the last turn.

The Storm Eagle did bugger all in shooting until the last turn, coming in on a 5+ to drop some Venegence missiles, plus lascannon and multi-melta shots into a Veteran Assault squad, who were menacing a Breacher squad, and killing enough to make it viable for the Breachers to charge them, rout them and pursue, thus snagging a valuable VP.

A busy weekend! The @snbattlereports (go find it in their youtube or via the link in my bio) post No Retreat battle report I played came out and had an extended weekend of full-on Heresy on a Saturnine course by @meddersminiatures and some @sotakronikat banter and time with like-minded heresy nerds.

Pics of the Saturnines here and on Medder’s feed.
The best lesson of was that it really can be posed to look interesting - everyone had done that instead of the very static build it comes in the box.

Also, the @heresyhammershow people were kind to review the NR lisst and were on the right track about who flies in the Caestus. Go check their latest comunity show.

As an added bonus to such a fun day of Horus Heresy gaming @heresyhammershow , I was awarded Master Artificer for my Sons of Horus army, for which I am humbled and very grateful for the recognition.

I've never won any award in relation to my miniatures/wargaming hobby, and Ive always thought of myself as a bang average painter, especially when I see such fantastic armies on a regular basis at Heresy Hammer events and on social media. So, this means a lot in relation to an army that has been such a labour of love for almost two years.

That said, the inclusion of both a Storm Eagle and a Dreadclaw might have helped sway the judge 😂

It definitely also justifies me staying up to the early hours of the morning before an event, doing those last finishing touches to models to get them ready!

Photos of most of the Armies on Parade from yesterday's @heresyhammershow Maelstrom event. Another fantastic day of Horus Heresy gaming using the Maelstorm format, which using tactical objective cards that have conditions players have to meet in order to score, rather than the standard objective-based missions.

Maelstrom is probably my favourite way to play Horus Heresy, as it forces players to be flexible in both army list design and in mindset, in order to score victory points. If you haven't tried it put yet, you should definitely give it a go Watch out for more Heresy Hammer Maelstrom event in the future!

A big shout out to @ashesoftheimperium for running a slick, fun and well-organised event (his first as a EO for Heresy Hammer), plus congratulations to Mike and his Thousand Sons for his Best Traitor army and Jack and his Iron Warriors for Best Loyalist Army and Best Sport. Well deserved for both!

Apologies to Thomas for not getting a photo of his excellent and very striking Mechanicum army. Sorry!

New Video Alert!
This week I tested myself to see if I could paint 2 Maximus Battle Group boxes (plus £60) inspired by the @heresyhammershow in just 48 hours. And I am incredibly pleased with how they turned out

After over a year hiatus off my socials I'm back! This weekend I attended the @heresyhammershow Cataclysm event, a great rules set and a rare chance to bring out the super heavies.

I had some great games, met some great people and was fortunate enough to pick up best painted for my Thousand son #horusheresy #heresyhammer #warhammer #warhammercommunity #thousandsons

Some action shots from this weekend's excellent @heresyhammershow Cataclysm event. Lots of armour on the tables with some challenging missions, especially for my somewhat small but elite Sons of Horus list.

First shot is from @tjhutton2018 and my game, where Tom threw his Custodes and Knights at my Sons of Horus, and while I wiped out most of his army, it still went down to the last turn of a five turn game. So tense!

Tag yourself if you spot yourself or your army in my photos!

Early game shot of my small army against Dan's massed Solar Auxiliary armoured force. I was looking foward to a re-match against Dan, and I managed to aquit myself better this time, almost wiping out all of his tanks and taking out his Knight with a double chainfist Contemptor. This was a real highlight of the game for me, but maybe not for Dan, after his Knight exploded and wiped out a load of armour and troops that were tightly packed near it 😂

A real highlight of the weekend was seeing Gary's beautiful looking Iron Warriors again, especially this fantastic Glaive.

Another highlight was Jack's Iron Warrior's Saturnine Dreadnought from @meddersminiatures Saturnine Dreadnought course last weekend. Really subtle but effective basing, and wonderfully consistent with the rest of his beautifully painted Iron Warriors army (well deserved award, Jack!)

I think these were Peter's absolutely cracking Word Bearers Saturnine Terminators, possibly a Phraetus Annointed Conclave? Lovely work.

Early shot from @tjhutton2018 and my game as my army sits at the backline while the Custodes and Knights surged forwards to try and overwhelm my forces. The Falchion was my MVP with two Knights, a Callidus grav tank, a Galatus Dreadnought and a couple of Aquilon Terminators to its tally. But kudos to Tom for pressing forward right to the end and putting my army under a lot of pressure right up to the end, despite the casualties my army inflicted on his.

Crunch moment in @tjhutton2018 and my game where he Deep Struck his Cutodes Tribune and Aquilon Terminator bodyguard right into my backline. They did a bit of damage but I managed to hold them of

Another great event at @heresyhammershow HQ in Crowthorne. This time Cataclysm where at least one Lord of War choice was mandatory! Here's some shots of the fantastic LoWs that were brought, plus Armies on Parade from this morning - lots of great looking models, it was really hard to choose the best armies. Well done to Tom, Liam and Jack for your awards - very well deserved!

Tag yourself in the photos so I know who did what!
