🏏WEEKEND RESULTS👇

SATURDAY

UPCC 60-3 Cardiff Met 1s 63-2
Loss by 4 wickets

A defeat against a strong Cardiff Met 1s side who gave UPCC a strong lesson in indoors BUCS.

@thatcherscider Pick of the Match: Jacob Townes
DOTD: Finn Torley

SUNDAY

2s 86-3 Plymstock 1s 84-5
Won by 3 wickets

Game of the weekend as it came down to the very final ball as UPCC chased down 84 runs to win the match. An unbelievable watch, big shoutout to the pairing of Toby Garne and Tom Appleyard. An absolute amazing contest and fantastic to see the 2s off the mark, they’ll no doubt take this confidence into their next game against the 1s.

@thatcherscider Pick of the Match: Tom Appleyard
DOTD: Alfie Gloyn

Ladies 49-5 Yealmpton Mackerels 189-6 (AO)
Loss by 140 runs

Despite a heavy defeat, there were fantastic individual performances in the field as Grace B took an impressive, thundering catch at Mid-on, Jake Evans with two catches and two run-outs from behind the stumps, Holly Gordon taking a wicket with the first ball of the game, and Lois Pinkney with 3 wickets on debut!
Lots to learn from but also lots of positives!

@thatcherscider Pick of the Match: Lois Pinkney
DOTD: Jake Evans

1s 80-6 (AO) Boundary Bandits 1s 137-3
Loss by 57 runs

A frustrating afternoon for 1s as the Boundary Bandits well and truly lived up to their name. A great day for that Mr Extras bloke however…
Despite this, there were some good individual performances with Toby Baker hitting 21 on debut and Max Erasmus with some fine bowling.
As always, we will take the positives and move onto the next game against the 2s!

@thatcherscider Pick of the Match: Max Erasmus
DOTD: James Hodges

WEAR IT PINK🩷

October is breast cancer awareness month and UPCC will be doing our bit to spread awareness by “Wearing it Pink” in our two training sessions this week.

We encourage all members to wear anything pink from shoes, socks, shorts, shirts or face paint and donate £2 (or more) to Breast Cancer Now.

With over 11,500 deaths to breast cancer per year, the aim is to go from Breast Cancer Now to Breast Cancer Never.

Please participate if you can🫶

2 & 1 day for both Men’s 1s and 2s on Game Day 1 of our @bucssport Open South Western Indoor League fixtures.

Comprehensively beaten by a brilliant @uoemenscricket 1s outfit in the early fixtures.

Solid wins vs @cardiffuniversitymenscc , @upcc_ , @uswcricket & @uoemenscricket 2s there after.

🏏UP NEXT FOR UPCC🗓️

A very busy weekend lies ahead for UPCC, with four games including our first venture into BUCS for the 26/27 season!

On Saturday, our 1s make the 45-minute trip up the A38 for just one game against Cardiff Met 1s starting at 18:00. Skipper Matt Merrien names a strong squad in what should be a great test for the boys in blue.

On Sunday, all three teams are in action:

11:10 - 2s vs Plymstock 1s
13:30 - Ladies vs Yealmpton Mackerels
15:50 - 1s vs Boundary Bandits 1s

Here’s hoping for some good results this weekend and please, if you can, make sure you come and support our teams!💙

Thank you to Les Cooper, Sheila Hall, Ben Meachem, Phil Hurst, Carl Evans, @pkcricketcoaching, and @orange_bear_audio for being our match sponsors.
