FULL SPEECH LINKED IN BIO AND STORY

Last Friday was a day we will remember forever. Natalie was the featured speaker at the Make-A-Wish, Wish Heroes Luncheon. We are so grateful for all of our friends and family who came to support us. She spoke in front of nearly 600 people and helped raise well over $400,000! She delivered her speech with poise, confidence, and even a little humor.
For those who don’t know her entire story…
Natalie was just 2½ weeks old when she was diagnosed with whooping cough. Her lungs, heart, and kidneys were all failing, and she was placed on ECMO (a form of life support). She spent 72 days at Seattle Children’s and overcame all odds. She was the first baby with whooping cough to survive being on ECMO. While in the hospital, she suffered a complication from a blood clot in her left leg.
Eighteen months later, we learned that the blood clot had damaged the growth plates in her leg, and doctors recommended amputation. We spent the next 13 years traveling back and forth to Minnesota for countless leg-lengthening surgeries.
Just when we thought we were finally done with hospitals, two days into her 8th grade year, we found out Natalie had Hodgkins lymphoma. She went through six months of grueling treatment and has now been cancer-free for 18 months.
Nothing stops this girl, and we couldn’t be more proud of her. After everything she has been through, to watch her stand on that stage and share her story was something we will never forget. We can’t wait to see the positive impact she will have on this world.
To everyone who has supported Natalie and our family throughout the years, thank you. We would not be where we are today without the incredible community that has surrounded us.
