POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Three years ago, I applied for a job at Twenty Seven Names. And I didn’t get it.

But, somehow, I got something else.

In June, I shot BTS for Common Material and got to see Dan Ahwa’s incredible eye in the flesh. His styling for Twenty Seven Names stuck with me. I remember standing in the back row, watching the collection come down the runway, and noticing a scarf tied around Izzy’s bag, it was half a centimetre above the floor. Such a small, considered detail.

Then, in July, Anjali texted to ask if I could shoot their AW27 campaign.

It was completely outside my comfort zone. As someone who usually shoots BTS, the idea of being there to create the images rather than document the moment terrified me. But their team welcomed me, nerves and all.

I can’t show you the images just yet, but I can say this: those two days will stay with me for a very long time. Some of my favourite photographs I’ve ever taken came from them.

And now it’s August.

I’ve just come back from my first ever NZFW, where I got to go backstage with one of my closest friends and step into the world that has captivated me since I was four.

And there I was, backstage with the incredible Twenty Seven Names team, surrounded by amazing models, talented artists, and all the people bringing the collection to life, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

Because three years ago, I didn’t get the job.

But somehow, I ended up here anyway.

Here’s my film from Day 2 of NZFW xx

I fell in love with this beautiful dress. The whole afternoon Camille and I would point at our favourite pieces and imagine where we would wear them.

These earrings are so special to me.

When Camille first showed me the beautiful wax forms (before casting), I stood there in suspense of what they would become.

And seeing them now takes my breath away.

So turns out you can’t use flash on a runway (duh). But I really wanted to use film.

Thankfully, we did a walk through beforehand and I feel incredibly special to have gotten these photos. (Almost all of my film shots from the runway SUCKED).

I fan girled a little too hard here.

I was given amazing advice from @j_m_vickers ahead of my first pit.

To try and not shoot convention
