Some magic is as strange and beautiful as it is hard to hold. It pulls you in & warns you not to look too close.

I first heard about The Bends from Mike while wrapping up a Nashville trip last winter. I was hooked before I left. Soon they were the cool cousins youd see once a year and couldn’t believe you’re lucky enough to know.

that February we were at a diner bar when i overheard Chase tell a story that put a this faraway look feeling on Haydens face…the one u get when u feel how fast all of this goes. it made me think about their early days. the first time they heard that song. their brush with something bigger. Forrest Gump catching Elvis on TV. the glimpse in the rearview that turns a what into a why.

a few months later I got to live a version of that myself. A few swamp ass days across the South, watching moments of their magic move through their hometowns; their fans, their families, the blood sweat & tears on stage, and all the purposeful luck and random grace that carried them here.

their existence through every sacrifice, yellow light, green kick, and red tape that hasn’t stopped them.

I’m a hypocrite. I love magic and overstaying my welcome. So here’s a few short seasons of The Bends.
The view will change. The feeling won’t.
