POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

As someone who writes about music in this 🤖Internet Age🤖, nothing scratches the itch in my brain quite like seeing a piece I put together in physical format.

I accept the reality of our modern world and don’t consider myself to be a Luddite, but sometimes publishing my work into the void of the internet feels weird. Not bad, just weird.

I often think about how my writing is 99% digital and if the internet were to collapse tomorrow, it would mostly be gone. Obviously that would probably be the least of my worries if the internet were to suddenly go away, but the thought still bums me out.

Anyways, this is an appreciation post for @hex_arc for continuing to support my writing and anyone else still doing the thing and making physical zines. In 2026 I find a lot of joy in having something I can read from a page.

Wayne Kambes better known as Wayne Kramer was a guitarist, singer, songwriter, activist, producer and film and television composer. Kramer is best known as a founding member of MC5. Born and raised in Detroit, Kramer teamed with teenage friend and fellow guitarist Fred “Sonic” Smith and frontman Rob Tyner. The MC5 were one of the rawest, most influential and politically engaged bands in music history. Kramer’s explosive guitar playing helped set the template for punk rock. In 1975, Kramer was arrested on drug charges and sentenced to four years in prison. After his release, he joined funk-rockers Was (Not Was) and was an itinerant figure on the New York City underground music scene. In the mid-90s, he began releasing music again as a solo artist. In 2018, Kramer published his memoir, The Hard Stuff: Dope, Crime, the MC5 and My Life of Impossibilities. In 2009, after he returned to performing and recording as a solo artist, he established Jail Guitar Doors U.S.A., a nonprofit that donates musical instruments to inmates and offers songwriting workshops in prisons. Kramer was an extraordinary person and one of the greatest guitarists to grace this planet. We love you brother Wayne! 👊🏾 (April 30, 1948- February 2, 2024) #waynekramer #mc5 #punkrock #whitepantherparty #detriotrock #detriotrockcity #rocklegend #hardrock #protopunk #soul #soulmusic #psychedelicrock #freejazz #garagerock #kickoutthejams #jailguitardoorsusa #lookingatyou #ramblinrose
