¿QUÉ SUBGENERO DE BASS (SW DEL DUBSTEP) DEBERÍA MASIFICARSE MÁS (DE ESTOS 4)?

The year 2012 became one of the most important moments for dubstep and bass music in Chile, when the sound started moving from underground parties into a much bigger youth culture driven by heavy drops, distorted basslines and the explosive brostep style that was taking over the internet. In Santiago, events like PUNCH, SUMERS, Smoke Dubstep and Bass Invaders helped build a local community around dubstep, drum & bass and electro, while international artists were also bringing more attention to the genre. On March 30, 2012, Skrillex performed at Teatro La Cúpula before appearing at Lollapalooza Chile, becoming one of the biggest symbols of that era. Later that year, Maquinaria Festival brought NERO and Knife Party to Chile, showing how fast bass music was growing beyond the underground. For many people, 2012 represented a unique period for Chilean dubstep: homemade flyers, Facebook events, packed clubs, heavy sound systems and a generation discovering artists like Skrillex, NERO, Knife Party, Zomboy and Excision while the genre was exploding worldwide.

10 years, and it feels like we’ve only just started.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with countless artists I’ve looked up to for years, as well as many others who have gone on to become close friends.

Instead of a traditional compilation, I wanted to celebrate this milestone in a more special way. This mix features many of our biggest hits, alongside other songs that reflect what makes Interval, INTERVAL.

Cypher marked a new beginning for us after a period when I felt uncertain about the label’s future. I’ve never felt more inspired to push forward, and I’ve never had this many projects in the pipeline.

In many ways, it feels like I’ve only just started.
