Sometimes you don’t know what you needed until you have it, and that’s exactly what last week’s @heyorca Summit in Toronto did for me.

Things have been changing (in very exciting ways) for BG Marketing Co. and my professional career. Although things look a lot different than what I imagined when I started my business in January 2025, one thing I’ve learned is that you have to be okay with pivoting. Your business is going to evolve, you’re going to evolve as an individual, and that’s okay.

Being in a room full of marketers last week, listening to amazing speakers and being surrounded by people who speak my language was SO energizing. It reminded me just how much I love the field I’m in.

It also flipped a switch for me and gave me some clarity about this page and what I want to share moving forward. There’s going to be a bit of a shift from this being strictly a business page to more of a space for me as a marketing professional to share my thoughts, experiences, things I’m learning and everything in between.

BG Marketing Co. is very much still happening! I have clients I love working with and will continue to support, but for now, I won’t be taking on any new clients. (Which is a scary thing to say out loud??)

But it’s what makes the most sense for me right now. And I genuinely think I’ll enjoy creating content more when I let go of that lingering feeling that everything I post needs to be about building a business. Instead, I want to share what I want, talk about the things I’m passionate about and lean into the educational side of marketing that I’ve always loved.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for supporting me and my business as we continue to grow and evolve. I hope you stick around. 🤍

Michael loves the em dash and refuses to let it go, ChatGPT or not. 😅

Here’s a clip from our talk at the Community Led Marketing Summit, presented by @heyorca. Noor’s years of writing for paramedics gave us the rule we use for everything at A&O:

Say the useful thing. Say it plainly. Say it first.

It turns out Google’s AI wants the same thing.

Spent the day at @heyorca’s Community-Led Marketing Summit, and yes, Oscar the Orca was the highlight.

He’s also the best example of the point I made on stage. SEO makes you discoverable. AEO makes you notable.

Discoverable means people find you when they search. Notable means they bring you up when you’re not in the room. That’s who AI answers name too.

A whole conference just went home with a photo of Oscar. What’s your orca?
