Everyone told me I’d love being a grandma. I expected to love it. I just didn’t know how much.

The part about becoming a grandmother and getting to love your child’s child that’s hard to explain until you experience it, is getting to watch my daughter become a mom, seeing little pieces of her in her daughter, and getting to feel how this tiny person who made me a grandma has been one of the sweetest parts of this stage of life.

Being a grandmother in my 50s feels like getting to experience motherhood from a completely different perspective: grand motherhood. Less responsibility, more presence, and a whole new kind of love.

I understand now why people say there’s nothing quite like the bond between a grandmother and granddaughter.

Rich in life because I get to be her grandma.

If you’re a grandma, did you expect it to feel like this?
