It’s no wonder kids are drawn to you the way they are, you were always meant to be a father.

You’re a safe place to land, a steady kind of silly, and someone who shows up with your whole heart, even while managing Type 1 diabetes every day. You don’t ask for attention, you don’t complain. You just quietly carry so much with humility.

I tell Nolan often, “Be proud of the way you walk through life no matter what you are going through.” He gets to watch you put that into action. This life we’ve built together is everything.

Nolan not only looks up to you, but feels safe enough to fully express who he is with you. That kind of safety is beautiful, and it’s something he will carry forward for the rest of his life.

And honestly, it’s not just us. You have this way of being that makes people feel seen, supported, and at ease. We can’t help but love you. It’s like you are everyone’s dad in the best possible way.

The partner and father Nolan’s going to become is, in so many ways, shaped by who you continue to be as his dad.

Sometimes I look at our life and still wonder how I got so lucky to do this with you, side by side, in all of it.
Happy Father’s Day. We love you so much. ❤️

Happy Birthday Noodle!

Watching you become who you are over the last 13 years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Seeing you through each birthday, each year, and every version of you along the way has been such a gift. You’re still the same kid who loves cats, pizza, and silly fart jokes (that sense of humor definitely comes from your uncle). I love watching you stand up for yourself and use your voice when you need to, while always leading with kindness and love. I can’t believe you’re a teenager. I’m so lucky I get to learn about life with you and your Dad. And yes, I cried this morning making this. You’re 13… how?!
