Going into 2025 I had no idea it would be the most creatively potent year of my life, but what an incredible and unexpected ride it was! 🛸 From humble beginnings, it started with some bleach and a pair of scissors and not long after that The Lucid Codes was born ✨ Fuelled by inspiration and guided by intuition, creating wearable art became the space I needed to reconnect with myself and something so much greater 🙏🏽💖 Thank you to each of you for being here, for supporting my creative evolution and for bringing my pieces to life in the most beautiful ways. Watch out 2026, cos I'm just getting started 😉 #2026 #evolution #smallbusiness #wearableart #icedye #nzmade

✨ Showcasing our artists, their designs, and their Thrift Shop Ball creations - Meet Rai Ringer from Hi-Cycled ✨ 💚 Corduroy Crochet Couple 💚 It all began at my favourite opshop, Opshop for Breast Cancer. The lovely ladies there know all about my obsession with the colour green and my passion for upcycling, so when a gorgeous corduroy set came in, they couldn’t wait to show me. My maker name is Hi-Cycled, and my inspiration has always been to give old textiles new life. The moment I saw that set, I knew it was destined for the Thrift Shop Ball. The skirt started out tight and straight, but I envisioned something more fluid and unique. That’s when the idea struck - I could reshape it with an old crochet tablecloth. Once I began unpicking the seams, it felt like the skirt was guiding me; the back naturally fell into the elegant shape of a tailcoat. I dyed the crochet tablecloth, along with a matching circular doily, and used them to tie the skirt and jacket together into one cohesive look. For my husband’s outfit, corduroy was the base, but the crochet tablecloth became the main feature once again. His vest was extra special to me - it was the very first garment I’d ever made without a pattern, stitched entirely from second-hand materials. To finish my look, I drew inspiration from a hat I’d once seen on the cover of a 1960s Simplicity magazine. For two years, I’d been gathering little bits and pieces from opshops to recreate it, and finally, it all came together. And that’s how the Corduroy Crochet Couple was born. I loved this outfit so much that I’m already planning a similar skirt for my wedding celebration in Brazil - and my husband will happily wear his crochet vest again! 💚 Follow here: Facebook-www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100089968285128 or Instagram - www.instagram.com/hi_cycled/

Last week I hosted Pia's fashion show at @rozellapresents Thrift Shop Ball! It was a great turn out, from hand made crochet looks, to formal tie massacres, to made in london tailored geezers. We had a total of 13 entries, with 3 couples. It was so hard to choose who to enter, so we ended up even accepting a wild card who just came up on the stage at the end! Fantastic work from Alley Kat on the decs! Thank you to Rachael for having me this year, and Pia who couldn't host it this year due to the nasty winter flu! Big love to you all, what a great show it was! xoxo photos by @davidrdunham

Check out these awesome handmade earrings from the gorgeous Rai at High Cycled 🙌💚 Loosing part of my hearing in one of my ears this year was quite upsetting as I felt it had affected my ability to pitch as well as I could, I felt it hard to hear myself sing on stage especially when there was a lot of surrounding sounds, and it also hit my confidence. Thanks to the amazing Ruth Royal I have learnt a new way of feeling pitch in my body which has helped a great deal 🧡🎶 I love the idea of these earrings so much because I am constantly loosing ear plus or completely forgetting them until I am in front row at a gig, and this just makes it so much easier to protect my ears and eliminate further damage. And plus how cute are they!! 🍄🍄
