Loved tattooing this sweet swallow with minimal color. Birds are one of my favorites subjects. Their symbolism ranges depending on culture and species; Birds can be the embodiment of freedom, resilience, heightened awareness and hope to strength & boldness in spite the their fragility.

@tattoosbyjakegoss will be teaching a class here at Glitter Armada tonight March 20th (6-8) on drawing Japanese koi fish!

Jake Goss is the artist/owner @hiddenlotustattoo Tattoo and Art Gallery. He spent almost two decades tattooing and fell in love with Asian art after backpacking and Tattooing in China for 14 months.

In this class you’ll learn the fundamentals of drawing a koi fish, starting with how to draw in shapes in a way that let’s you understand their anatomy and how to quickly play with different perspectives to be able to draw one swimming any way you’d like.

We’ll be covering tips and tricks for griding out perfect scales, getting different emotions, textures, and even touching base on Japanese wind and water.

In this class we’ll be taking a more traditional approach on the koi for times sake but Jake is happy to stay for questions or sit down afterwards if you’d like help with any more advanced theory too.

Nate conceptualized this back piece with a symbolic imagery and it was such an honor to bring it to life for him 🖤. There is so much detail I will live posting some process photos as well.
