1. Everything felt way more urgent than it actually was. An email would come in and I felt like I had to respond RIGHT NOW. Someone needed something and suddenly it was the most important thing on my list. I had a really hard time just letting things wait.

2. I needed SO much alone time after work. I could be around people all day and seem completely fine, but by the time I got home I did not want anyone asking me a question, needing anything from me or honestly even talking to me lol.

3. The smallest decisions started feeling exhausting. I could make big decisions at work all day long, but then someone would ask what I wanted for dinner and I genuinely could not tell you. Just pick something. I do not care 😂

4. I had zero tolerance for being interrupted. Someone could ask me a completely normal question while I was trying to get something done and I could literally feel the irritation shoot through my body. Like whyyyy are you talking to me right now?! 😫

5. I was always waiting for the next chance to finally recover. I would obsess about Friday or going on vacation. Except I would rest, come back…and within a few days I already felt like I needed another one.

The problem is when you have so much to take care of it’s REALLY easy to brush all of this off as just being part of the deal.

Until feeling like this becomes so normal that you forget you’re not actually supposed to feel this way all the time.

Recognizing what you’ve normalized is the first step to building a life where you can still be ambitious AND actually have the capacity to enjoy what you’ve worked so hard for.

If you’re a high achiever and not sure whether you’re actually burnt out or just tired, comment RESTORE and I’ll send you my free 2-minute burnout quiz to help you figure out where you’re at and what you need to start feeling better.

1. I would spaz out on little things either with my coworkers or my loved ones. Then I would feel guilty or embarrassed after for losing my cool.

2. I couldn’t sit still without being productive. Everything I did had to have some type of output attached to it….whether that be housework, working out, or even rest…everything had to be optimized.

3. I was still high functioning. I thought burn out meant I was lethargic and stuck on the couch. If you’re high achieving…It means you’re still doing your job and showing up for everyone even if you’re beyond exhausted underneath the surface.

4. My diet sucked. I was either skipping breakfast and only eating when I was hangry or I had stomach issues because I couldn’t digest my food properly (for me it was pain in my stomach and throwing up)

5. I couldn’t sleep through the night. I would wake up around 3 or 4 AM thinking about work or just unable to let my mind rest.

6. I struggled to find joy in the things that used to be fun. My energy was so shot that even having fun felt like a lot of work.

What was confusing about all of this was that I had done everything I was “supposed” to and still felt unfulfilled and exhausted inside.

Healing my burnout, not only gave me my energy and joy back, but it also helped me build a life where I could continue to be ambitious while still enjoy enjoying everything I had built.

If you’re not quite sure whether you’re actually burnt out or just tired, comment the word RESTORE below, and I’ll send you my 2 minute burnout quiz, which will help you figure out exactly where your body is at and what it needs to feel better ASAP.
