✨ SEPTEMBER, YOU WERE A BUSY ONE! ✨

We’ve been on the road throughout September, meeting future students, catching up with our community and getting Shannon College out there! 🌍🎓
📍 Higher Options – RDS Dublin
📍 WorldSkills – RDS Dublin
📍 National Ploughing Championships

It was amazing to meet so many students, teachers and families at each event and chat about all things Shannon College, hospitality, business and your future career opportunities. 💙

A very special shoutout to our Shannon College students who joined us at these events and represented both themselves and the College so brilliantly. 👏✨
We’re incredibly proud of the way you got involved, shared your experiences and showed everyone what it means to be part of the Shannon College community!

But… we’re not slowing down anytime soon! 👀

📅 We have a whole host of upcoming events taking place on campus and virtually over the coming months — from open events and information sessions to opportunities to come and experience Shannon for yourself.

And we’ll be back on the road too! 🚗💨
🎓 We’ll be attending all upcoming IGC events, so make sure you come and say hi if you spot us!

And who knows… we might even be making our way to YOUR school!

So, whether you meet us at an event, on campus, online or in your own school, we’d love to chat and answer any questions you have about life at Shannon College.

🔗 Check out our upcoming events and register via the link in our bio.

Your next chapter could start here. 💙

On Thursday the 17th of September we set out to learn more about what’s out there after secondary school. With the guidance of the WorldSkills demonstrations students gained the opportunity to learn more about the expanding world of apprenticeships and all they have to offer. We saw a few familiar faces taking part in the WorldSkills showcase competitions; former pupils Cian Abbey in the Heavy Vehicle Technology exhibition and Severinas Skultinas in the bricklaying exhibition . We’d like to congratulate them on this huge achievement!
After a quick snack, we ventured across the road to the RDS for the Higher Options hub. This equipped our pupils with the chance to visit many different college representatives and ask questions about what was on offer. Additionally there were talks taking place throughout the day to educate our students on the different fields of work.

We left the event with the knowledge surrounding possible college courses, different apprenticeships and even army and garda positions, ensuring something for everybody.

What does the future look like to students?

Last week at @higheroptions_it Creative Calling asked students to ‘Create the Future’ and share their ideas on Post-its.
From big dreams to big changes, our illustrator then brought their ideas to life, live on the day!

Creative Calling is a Creative Ireland initiative connecting young people with creative careers, opportunities and pathways, helping them see where their creativity could take them.

Higher Options Day 3 was definitely our busiest yet. 🤯

From queues to spin the Portobello wheel to students lining up to take part in our interviews, Stand 54 was non-stop throughout the day.

Portobello Institute PE student and rugby player Leah Tarpey @leahtarpey_ also took the microphone out into the RDS to meet students, and it wasn’t long before she was surrounded by groups eager to get involved in our vox pops and share their answers.

📸 Now it’s time to find yourself in the photo dump!

Spot yourself or someone you know? Comment below and we’ll tag you and give you a follow back.

And we’re not finished with Higher Options content just yet. Stay tuned for all the student interviews, vox pops and videos we captured across the three days. 👀
