We had a lovely time looking at 'Me, my place, our world' Young Creatives Art Competition 2026 for inspiration. We used textures from the natural environment around us to create beautiful textures in clay before transforming them into self portraits.

Our next Parent & Toddler Art Workshop will take place in November Tuesday at 10.30am date to be confurmed.

🇮🇪🇵🇹 To mark Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the associated County-Country Pairing initiative, Louth County Council was delighted to welcome H.E. Alma Ní Choigligh, Ambassador of Ireland to Portugal, and H.E. João Pedro Fins do Lago, Ambassador of Portugal to Ireland to County Louth on Friday, 2 October.

The County-Country Pairing initiative aims to bring the European Union closer to local communities while creating opportunities for cultural exchange, cooperation and stronger links between participating counties and EU Member States.

Reflecting themes of education, inclusion, community engagement, culture and heritage, the Ambassadors visited locations across north, mid and south Louth, showcasing the very best of our county, including:

📍 Carlingford Lough Greenway
📍 Bush Post Primary School
📍 St Brigid’s Shrine, Faughart
📍 County Hall, Dundalk
📍 Dundalk Sports Centre and Athletics Track
📍 Louth Disability Cycling Club
📍 Dunleer Library
📍 St Peter’s Church, Drogheda
📍 Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda

The visit highlighted County Louth’s investment in active travel, education, sport, community facilities, culture and heritage, while also laying the foundations for a lasting relationship between County Louth and Portugal.

A brilliant bit of border art, 'Cuilcagh Under a Renaissance Sky' (1986) by Jeremy Henderson. It's currently on show in the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda. It's included in the Picturing the Border: 1921 – 2026 exhibition, which is runs until the end of the month.

STATEMENT FROM SÁRÁN AND MUIRINE MUSIC HQ:
Unfortunately we’ve had to postpone our @highlanesgallery launch. Our CDs haven’t arrived in time due to adverse weather conditions (!) This is the second delay in our CDs' journey to us. (We promise we are not just bad at planning). We will be announcing a new date very soon.

This will also mean that there will be a slight delay in posting our CDs.

In more positive news, our album releases tomorrow and you can listen digitally on Bandcamp. We hope you enjoy listening, but in the event that you don’t, you will only have your own high expectations to blame. And at least you can then buy some albums for all of your enemies on Bandcamp Friday.

Pictured setting up and ready to deliver my Art & Nature workshop to a group of 30 very special ECCE children and their teachers at the Department of Children, Disability and Equality at Miesian Plaza, Baggot St. last week. The Forum 'Shaping the Future' for Early Learning and Childcare was launched by Minister Norma Foley TD as part of the 'The First Five'. This workshop is similar to the early years parent and toddler art workshops I facilitate monthly at Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda. Something a little different from my usual carousel: a recent trip to the Highlanes Gallery to see their exhibition ‘Picturing the Border: 1921 – 2026’.

With parents from either side of the border, and having lived and worked in both, I was really looking forward to it!

It’s a well curated exhibition and well worth a visit. It was great to see such a wide range of voices among the artists, in an area that for various reasons has been pretty male dominated. Congratulations to everyone involved 👏

I hope you enjoy!
