The Things You Know (gold)
By Laura Jane Petelko, 2022 ☞︎ @laurajanepetelko
C$6,000 - $12,500

Media: archival print, mounted to black museum box

From the Phototropic series that was recently exhibited in Toronto (Fall 2022). With this image of abstracted beautiful botanical forms, Petelko explores various colour tones and their emotional resonance. In The Things You Know, are we coming into light from darkness or is it a retreat into one’s self and inner knowing? With the gold variation evoking a rich sense of nostalgia, it also picks up on elements from the figurative works in this series. These modular pieces stand alone but encourage pairing for diptychs and triptychs.
