Gwen and I had a great weekend in New York

Saturday was dock diving @splashdowndogsports !! She was doing great with a 12’, 13’3, and 12’9. But she slipped on her second attempt on splash 3 and refused on jump 4 😭 which is something she hasn’t done since last summer.

Sunday we had @highpeakscanine pack walk in the morning which was so great as always. We then went to Ithaca Commons where Gwen got not only her CGCA but also her CGCU 😍 I’m so proud of this girl. And her bestie @odin_marsh got his CGC 🎉 she also tried a treadmill for the first time

Monday was mostly a rest day for Gwen while I helped with some training. She ended up coming as a demo dog for some of the outings later in the day. She really is so amazing and I’m so glad she is in my life 🩷💜

Another successful trip to NYC 🏙️🗽

Gwen and I were joined by our friends @sultan.sniffs for the @thedogist pack walk! This was Gwen’s second time in the city and Sultans first. They both did so amazing!! It was definitely a bit hot but Gwen too it all in stride. She walked most of the day just on her flat collar and I’m always so impressed with her. I always want to thank @highpeakscanine for giving Gwen and I the best start to our journey together ❤️

I’m am so happy Gwen has been doing well since we lost George 2 weeks ago. We have just been trying to stay busy. This was a trip I would have taken George on, he was such a summer boy and would have loved the heat 💔💔

The wind in my hair, the power in our stride and the heartbeat at the end of the lead.

It’s been four years since I’ve had an active guide - Viva, come be the dog I need. ♥️

It feels good to be back in the fast lane with a guide dog, even though she’s still got her training wheels on. There is something about the mobility and security guide dogs provide - I’ve missed this immensely.

I’m looking forward to when training comes full circle, but for now, we’re enjoying the ride and journey.

A great training experience at @llbean in New Hartford, NY last month! We had a solid outing with many training opportunities and moments where we could back chain and work on specifics.

In the middle of our session, Viva wasn’t too sure about one of the mannequins in the aisle, which allowed us to go back and work her through it.

Going into a training session with a plan and being able to deviate and adapt on the fly has been our greatest skill I’ve developed over years of training my own guide dogs and training service dogs in general. Just like us handlers, or canine partners in their training phase are going through the developmental changes as they navigate adolescence. It’s my responsibility as a trainer and handler to help guide my dog in any capacity that she requires presently.

All in all, I'm very happy with the session, many thanks to my girlfriend @highpeakscanine for recording our training sessions and helping us out! 🥰 I highly recommend that you do this, so you can review and get feedback on what to work on next time!

Tools of the trade in the world of a Balanced Dog Trainer.✨

Introducing @HighPeaksCanine’s first upcoming apparel and swag design — featuring balanced training tools and terms, real-world solutions for the everyday dog owner with a varied approach and her retired service dog and bestie, Koda @lifewithsdkoda, the one who started it all.

Cheyenne has poured her heart into developing, building, and growing her dog training business — no small feat in this industry. I admire her hustle, dedication, and genuine care for every dog and owner who crosses her path.

Having a partner who celebrates your wins, understands your purpose, and supports your dreams is something I’ll never take for granted. It goes both ways.

Interested in this design? Stay tuned for updates on its release by following @highpeakscanine and watching my stories! 🔥

Happy Birthday, Chey! I’m so lucky to have a best friend and partner in you. Enjoy! 🥰
